This paper presents a fractional mathematical model of a one-dimensional phase-change problem (Stefan problem) with a variable latent-heat (a power function of position). This model includes space–time fractional derivatives in the Caputo sense and time-dependent surface-heat flux. An approximate solution of this model is obtained by using the optimal homotopy asymptotic method to find the solu...

We calculate the transverse velocity fluctuations correlation function of a linear and homogeneous viscoelastic liquid by using a generalized Langevin equation (GLE) approach. We consider a long-ranged (power-law) viscoelastic memory and a noise with a long-range (power-law) auto-correlation. We first evaluate the transverse velocity fluctuations correlation function for conventional time deriv...

This paper analyses substrate-related spurious tones in fractional-N phaselocked loops with integrated VCOs. Spur positions are calculated and experimentally verified as a function of the divider ratios of prescaler and programmable divider. For an integrated wideband PLL in SiGe BiCMOS technology the spur power levels are measured and compared with theoretical expectations. The power in these ...

The stochastic solution to a diffusion equations with polynomial coefficients is called a Pearson diffusion. If the first time derivative is replaced by a Caputo fractional derivative of order less than one, the stochastic solution is called a fractional Pearson diffusion. This paper develops an explicit formula for the covariance function of a fractional Pearson diffusion in steady state, in t...

The rheological properties of polymer melts and other complex macromolecular fluids are often successfully modeled by phenomenological constitutive equations containing fractional differential operators. We suggest a molecular basis for such fractional equations in terms of the generalized Langevin equation (GLE) that underlies the renormalized Rouse model developed by Schweizer [J. Chem. Phys....

Many correlation filters have been designed to be invariant to certain parameters within a set of input images. For example, the construction of rotation and scale invariant filters is well documented. However, an estimation of a generic varying parameter is not available by these methods. This paper presents a two-filter method that estimates the value of a varying parameter in the input image.

For any k ∈ N, the k−subdivision of graph G is a simple graph G 1 k , which is constructed by replacing each edge of G with a path of length k. In this paper we introduce the mth power of the n−subdivision of G, as a fractional power of G, denoted by G m n . In this regard, we investigate chromatic number and clique number of fractional power of graphs. Also, we conjecture that χ(G m n ) = ω(G ...

In this note we describe the notion of a rectifiable scan and consider some applications [DH1], [DH2] to Plateau-type minimization problems. “Scans” were first introduced in the work [HR1] of Tristan Rivière and the second author to adequately describe certain bubbling phenomena. There, the behavior of certain W 1,3 weakly convergent sequences of smooth maps from 4 dimensional domains into S le...
