In a previous paper [10] we explored the notion of coherent fuzzy consequence operator. It is well-known that the operator induced by a fuzzy preorder through Zadeh’s compositional rule is always a coherent fuzzy consequence operator. It is also known that the relation induced by a fuzzy consequence operator is a fuzzy preorder if such operator is coherent [7]. Fuzzy closing operators of mathem...

Bipolarity is an important feature of spatial information, involved in the expression of preferences and constraints about spatial positioning or in pairs of opposite spatial relations such as left and right. Another important feature is imprecision which has to be taken into account to model vagueness, inherent to many spatial relations (as for instance vague expressions such as close to, to t...

In this paper we introduce a neural network implementation of fuzzy mathematical morphology operators and apply it to image denoising. Using a supervised training method and differentiable equivalent representations for the fuzzy morphological operators, we derive efficient adaptation algorithms to optimize the structuring elements. We can then design fuzzy morphological filters for processing ...

The aim of this paper is to introduce a new approach to Mathematical Morphology based on neutrosophic set theory. Basic definitions for neutrosophic morphological operations are extracted and a study of its algebraic properties is presented. In our work we demonstrate that neutrosophic morphological operations inherit properties and restrictions of Fuzzy Mathematical Morphology.

Fuzzy Mathematical Morphology aims to extend the binary morphological operators to grey-level images. In order to define the basic morphological operations fuzzy erosion, dilation, opening and closing, we introduce a general method based upon fuzzy implication and inclusion grade operators, including as particular case, other ones existing in related literature In the definition of fuzzy erosio...

The identification and localization of a brain tumor is a complex work. The proposed method allows to assess the anatomical location, morphology and extent of the tumor with high spatial resolution. A modified Fuzzy C-Means (FCM) Classifier is introduced to identify and locate the tumor effectively with minimal duration. The brass tacks of the classifier is carried out by incurring the contextu...

The problem of detecting blood vessels in retinal color fundus images is addressed. An unsupervised method based on the extraction of two vessel features vectors in order to detect the pixels belonging to the vessel tree is presented. The proposed vessel features rely on the contrast of vessels and their linear connectivity. The extraction of these features is performed by using advanced morpho...

Diabetic retinopathy, that affects the blood vessels of the retina, is considered to be the most serious complication prevalent among diabetic patients. If detect successfully at an early stage, ophthalmologist would be able to treat the patients by advanced laser treatment to prevent total blindness. In this paper, we propose a technique based on morphological image processing and fuzzy logic ...

This study presents an unsupervised fuzzy c-means classification (FCM) to observe the shoreline positions. We combined crisp and fuzzy methods for change detection. We addressed two perspectives of uncertainty: (1) uncertainty that is inherent to shoreline positions as observed from remote sensing images due to its continuous variation over time; and (2) the uncertainty of the change results pr...
