background:  stresses such as heat shock, starvation, or osmotic is essential to lead isolated microspores towards embryogenesis. despite the effectiveness of stresses in embryogenesis, they exert adverse effects on metabolism and growth of the regenerated plants.objectives: the effects of heat shock and 2,4-d treatment on total protein content of treated microspores, morphological and physiolo...

OBJECTIVE To identify the cause of isolated distal weakness in a family with both neuropathic and myopathic features on EMG and muscle histology. METHODS Case study with exome sequencing in 2 affected individuals, bioinformatic prioritization of genetic variants, and segregation analysis of the likely causal mutation. Functional studies included Western blot analysis of the candidate protein ...

The small heat shock proteins form a large protein family comprising proteins important in the cellular stress response. Their ability to protect cells against heat shock and their increased expression as part of the heat shock response contributed to their assignment as heat shock proteins. As their molecular mass was usually less than 30, 000 the term ‘small’ was incorporated to distinguish t...

BACKGROUND Specialized cellular defense mechanisms prevent damage from chemical, biological, and physical hazards. The heat shock proteins have been recognized as key chaperones that maintain cell survival against a variety of exogenous and endogenous stress signals including noxious temperature. However, the role of heat shock proteins in nociception remains poorly understood. We carried out a...

background heat shock protein 72 (hsp72) is responsible for maintaining critical cellular function during heat stress. hsp72 confers thermotolerance and may play a role in heat acclimation. animal research suggests a difference between sexes in hsp72 expression in response to exercise, however, human data is lacking. conclusion our findings suggest that men and women differ in their cellular st...

The Drosophila heat shock cognate gene 4 (hsc4), a member of the hsp70 gene family, encodes an abundant protein, hsc70, that is more similar to the constitutively expressed human protein than the Drosophila heat-inducible hsp70. Developmental expression revealed that hsc4 transcripts are enriched in cells active in endocytosis and those undergoing rapid growth and changes in shape.

During heat shock stress, importin β family-mediated nucleocytoplasmic trafficking is downregulated, whereas nuclear import of the molecular chaperone Hsp70s is upregulated. Here, we identify a nuclear import pathway that operates during heat shock stress and is mediated by an evolutionarily conserved protein named "Hikeshi," which does not belong to the importin β family. Hikeshi binds to FG-N...
