Numerous studies have investigated economies of scale and scope in higher education as a means of providing public and private providers of college and university teaching and research and their stakeholders with knowledge of the cost structures that underpin provision in this economically and socially important sector. However, debate continues on the precise nature of these economies of scale...

A new regression-based approach is proposed for modeling marketing the analysis, the functional form of the effect of each independent variable, and the appropriate transformation for the dedatabases. The approach is Bayesian and provides a number of significant pendent variable. improvements over current methods. Independent variables can enter into This article introduces a highly flexible Ba...

When there are several replicates available at each level combination of two factors, testing non-additivity can be done by the usual two-way ANOVA method. However, the ANOVA method cannot be used when the experiment is unreplicated (one observation per cell of the two-way classification). Several tests have been developed to address non-additivity in unreplicated experiments starting with Tuke...

Introduction Conventional magnetic resonance imaging uses linear gradient fields for spatial encoding, allowing the use of Fourier based reconstruction methods. The incorporation of dynamic non-linear phase terms into reconstruction is uncommon, as its evolution during the readout is usually unknown and reconstruction techniques have so far not been available. Recent improvements in magnetic fi...

In this paper we show that approximation errors predominate the artifacts that can be seen. A new integration scheme for solving the volume rendering equation is presented that leads to artifact free images and accurate resolutions down to voxel size. We propose a method for acquiring additional sample points needed for higher order integration very efficiently in order to allow the competing g...

Using an increasing returns specification for distribution, an inverted-U pattern between the share of distribution in GDP and the level of development is shown to arise. A cross-section time series data set is constructed and merged with one used to analyze the service sector. In contrast to the rising pattern found for services, an average time series relation that exhibits an inverted-U patt...

This paper presents two score tests to determine a value for the Box–Cox transformation parameter. The test based on expected information performs better in small samples and is computationally simpler than the one based on observed information; therefore, the former is recommended.  2002 Elsevier Science B.V. One of the major issues in the analysis of unemployment durations concerns the distinction between duration dependence of the exit rate out of unemployment and unobserved heterogeneity. Empirical studies rely heavily on functional form restrictions, which may be hazardous. We present a method for the nonparametric estimation of both phenomena. This method is designed to be applicable to aggrega...

In this paper we study the description of saturation in Balitsky, Jalilian-Marian, Iancu, McLerran, Weigert, Leonidov and Kovner (BJIMWLK) picture when restricted to observables made up only from dipole operators. We derive a functional form of the evolution equation for the dipole probability distribution and find a one-parameter family of exact solutions to the dipole evolution equations.
