Excluding four H atoms, the molecule of the title compound, C(16)H(14)O, is almost planar, with an r.m.s. deviation of 0.0801 (2) Å. Due to p-π conjugation, the lengths of the two single bonds attached to the O atom are significantly different.
We prepared a brand new molecule in one step for the synthesis of bis-indolylindane-1,3-dione and indan-1,3-diones from the reaction of ninhydrin and 3 substituted/unsubstituted indoles using [Hbim]BF4 ionic liquid in excellent yields. The method was also used for the synthesis of novel indene-1,3(2H)-denies derivatives.
Palladium-catalyzed carbene migratory insertion-cyclization reactions were reported, delivering dihydronaphthalene and indene derivatives in moderate to good yields. A three-component cross-coupling was also developed. The reactions are easy to handle, under mild conditions and various functional groups are tolerated.
