This correspondence presents an iterative instantaneous frequency (IF) estimation scheme in which successive IF estimates are obtained from the peak of the cross Wigner-Ville distribution (XWVD) using a reference signal synthesized from an initial IF estimate. Theoretical and practical aspects of performance are discussed, and compared with other methods.

In this paper we propose a new type of non-negative time-frequency distribution associated with mono-components in both the non-periodic and periodic cases, called transient time-frequency distribution (TTFD), and study its properties. The TTFD of a mono-component signal can be obtained directly through its analytic instantaneous frequency. The characteristic property of TTFD is its complete co...

Length frequency data of the longtail tuna, Thunnus tonggol collected from October 2006 to September 2007 were analyzed for evaluation of the stock parameters. T. tonggol is mainly caught by gillnet method. Yearly tuna and tuna-like catches in Iran are of the order of 174,234 mt, close to 46% of which are longtail tuna. The VBG parameters for longtail tuna were: L∞ =133.72cm K=0.35 year−1.The l...

The discrete evolutionary transform is applied to signals in a blind–way without any signal parameters. For this reason, discrete evolutionary transform is not optimal and needs an improvement by using some information about the signal. In this paper, we propose an improvement for the discrete evolutionary transform. We redefine the generalized timebandwidth product optimal short–time Fourier t...

This paper describes a new technique, called the empirical mode decomposition (EMD), that allows the decomposition of one-dimensional signals into intrinsic oscillatory modes. The components, called intrinsic mode functions (IMFs), allow the calculation of a meaningful multicomponent instantaneous frequency. Applied to a seismic trace, the EMD allows us to study the di erent intrinsic oscillato...

Synthetic aperture radar interferograms from properly selected multiple baselines can be combined in a manner that reduces the uncertainty in surface height estimation and avoids the downfall of traditional phase unwrapping techniques.
