A 22-year-old woman developed an unruptured fusiform aneurysm of the internal carotid artery 7 months after being diagnosed with Wagener's granulomatosis. Intracranial aneurysmal formation is an extremely rare complication of Wegener's granulomatosis. This rare case of intracranial aneurysm was treated by endovascular balloon occlusion.
BACKGROUND Risk prediction of rupture of intracranial aneurysms is poor and is based mainly on lumen characteristics. However, characteristics of the aneurysm wall may be more informative predictors. The limited resolution of currently available imaging techniques and the thin aneurysm wall make imaging of wall thickness challenging. OBJECTIVE To introduce a novel protocol for imaging wall th...
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Aneurysms are rarely associated with symptomatic intracranial stenosis. We report the results of recanalization by stent placement in patients with symptomatic severe intracranial stenosis associated with adjacent aneurysms. MATERIALS AND METHODS Of 139 patients who underwent intracranial stent placement during a 5-year period, 10 (7%) had symptomatic severe intracrania...
AIM To discuss the features, feasibility, and safety of a combined bilateral approach in the endovascular treatment of intracranial anterior communicating artery (ACoA) aneurysm. MATERIAL AND METHODS We performed a retrospective analysis of the clinical data of patients with ACoA aneurysm treated with a combined bilateral approach. RESULTS We successfully embolized aneurysms in nine patient...
OBJECTIVE Isolated accessory nerve palsy due to intracranial disorders is uncommon because intracranial accessory nerve injury usually occurs in case of a skull base tumor or trauma, resulting in one of multiple cranial nerve palsies. We report a very rare case of isolated accessory nerve palsy due to a large thrombosed aneurysm of the intracranial vertebral artery. Full recovery was achieved a...
RATIONALE There were a few case reports concerning epidermoid tumor coexisted with multiple cerebral aneurysms. Here, we present one case of coexistence of intracranial epidermoid tumor and multiple cerebral aneurysms and performed a literature review. PATIENT CONCERNS A 42 years old male patient was admitted to our institution with complaints of headache and dizziness. INTERVENTIONS The ra...
UNLABELLED Backgrounds and Purpose- The authors evaluated the incidence of rupture of unruptured intracranial saccular aneurysm during observation. METHODS Between January 2003 and December 2006, a total of 419 patients with 529 unruptured intracranial saccular aneurysms were observed without treatment. The mean follow-up duration was 905.3 days. Aneurysm size was measured by 3-dimensional CT...
Cardiac myxoma is the most common primary tumor of the heart, located mainly in the left atrium. Cerebral embolization or intracranial aneurysm formation as a consequence of left atrial myxomas has been well documented, whereas myxoma embolization causing the combination of cerebral infarction and intracranial myxomatous aneurysm is rare. We report herein, a 67-year-old female with a cardiac my...
