Sequential multiple methylene (CH2) insertions into adsorbed methyl species on clean gallium-rich GaAs(100)-(4 x 1) occurs to form higher alkenes (ethene, propene, butene) and two higher alkyl iodides (iodoethane, iodopropane), not reported for a semiconductor surface previously.

We demonstrated an unprecedented example of Ullmann homocoupling reaction of aryl iodides over a novel recyclable gold catalyst comprising Au nanoparticles supported on a bifunctional periodic mesoporous organosilica (Au@PMO).

Selectively substituted o-teraryls are obtained by palladium/norbornene-catalyzed reaction of aryl iodides, aryl bromides and aryl boronic acids in ordered sequence; high selectivity is attained thanks to the addition of diethyl maleate acting as palladium ligand.

Aryl nitriles were prepared through Cu(NO3)2·3H2O-mediated cyanation of aryl iodides and bromides using DMF as a single surrogate of cyanide. Moreover, this protocol could be scalable and practiced with benign operation.

The cross-coupling reaction of diarylamines with aryl bromides/iodides can be effected by the Ni(ii)-(sigma-aryl) complex/PPh(3)/NaH system, and a preliminary investigation was conducted into the mechanism of this reaction.

Conditions have been developed for the reductive cross-coupling of 3-bromo-2,1-borazaronaphthalenes with primary and secondary alkyl iodides. This method allows direct alkylation of azaborine cores, providing efficient access to functionalized isosteres of naphthalene derivatives.
