This study was conducted to develop fundamental relationships between soil properties from three representative Florida soil orders and their spectral characteristics. The ultimate goal of this work is to develop a real–time soil property sensor for use in effective farm management. A total of 270 samples collected from the three representative soil orders (Alfisol, Entisol, and Ultisol) in Flo...
When forest fires occur, highly complex effects on soil properties and hydrological processes are activated. However, in countries such as Iran, these consequences not widely studied there is a lack of studies. Therefore, the main aim this study was to investigate wildfire quality characteristics representative area located Hyrcanian forests, specifically, Zarrinabad watershed Sari. For purpose...
OBJECTIVE To assess the relationship between selenium (Se) concentration in rice and the incidence of esophageal cancer (EC) in a high risk area in Northern Iran. METHODS This ecological study was conducted in Golestan province of Iran in 2012. In this area, 45714 acres of land are cultivated by rice. A total of 69 rice samples were taken. We investigated Se concentrations by the voltammetric...

Use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides and sewage sludge in agriculture lands caused the increase of heavy metals concentration in the soils in many parts of the world. The purpose of this article is studying the impacts of agricultural activities on the accumulation of Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Ni and Pb in the soil. The soil samples were taken by systematic method from agriculture fields with cultivat...
BACKGROUND Acinetobacter baumannii (A. baumannii) has emerged globally as a significant pathogen in hospitals. It is also present in soil and water. In a previous study, we discovered that the A. baumannii class 2 integron occurred most frequently. Here, we determined whether the A. baumannii class 2 integron is in the soil around our hospital, and if the soil is the cause for increasing number...
Data-intensive technologies such as precision agriculture require new approaches for acquisition of soil data on landscapes. We compared the ability of near infrared (NIR; 400–2500 nm) and mid infrared (MIR; 2,500– 25,000 nm) spectroscopy for field-scale acquisition of soil fertility parameters. Samples were obtained in a grid pattern (25 m spacing) from the surface (0–10 cm) and sub-surface (1...
In this paper, a new species of the genus Nenteria Oudemans, 1915 is described on the basis of adult female and male specimens collected in soil and litter in parks in Kerman, southeastern Iran, and Tehran, northern Iran. A key to the Iranian species of Nenteria is also presented, and Trachycilliba abantica (Bal & Őzkan, 2007) is reported for the first time in Iran.
Fertilized black soil samples are prepared by mixing desired amounts of fertilizers in the black soils having 10% gravimetric moisture content. Two black soil samples were collected from two different locations of Maharashtra State (India). Three different chemical fertilizers viz., Urea, Di-Ammonium Phosphate and Potash are used. Measurements of complex dielectric constants of these soil sampl...
