An ultra-broadband distributed-feedback quantum cascade laser array was fabricated, using a heterogeneous cascade based on two bound-to-continuum designs centered at 8.4 and 9.6 m. This array emitted in a range over 220 cm near a 9m wavelength, operated in pulsed mode at room temperature. The output power of the array varied between 100and 1100-mW peak intensity.

Multimode laser operation is usually characterized by high output power, yet its beam quality is inferior to that of a laser with single TEM00 mode operation. Here we present an efficient approach for improving the beam quality of multimode laser resonators. The approach is based on splitting the intra-cavity multimode beam into an array of smaller beams, each with a high quality beam distribut...

This paper proposes a novel infrared camera array guidance system with capability to track and provide real time position and speed of a fixed-wing Unmanned air vehicle (UAV) during a landing process. The system mainly include three novel parts: (1) Infrared camera array and near infrared laser lamp based cooperative long range optical imaging module; (2) Large scale outdoor camera array calibr...

Endothelial cells and dental pulp cells enhance osteo-/odontogenic and angiogenic differentiation. In our previous study, rat pulp cells migrated to Nd:YAG laser-irradiated endothelial cells in an insert cell culture system. The purpose of this study was to examine the possible changes in the gene expression of cultured rat aortic endothelial cells after Nd:YAG laser irradiation using affymetri...

An approach for simultaneous detection of NO, OH and O in flames using laser-induced fluorescence is presented. The technique is based on spectral coincidences using a Nd:YAG-based laser system producing a frequency-doubled and frequency-mixed laser beam at 287 and 226 nm, respectively. The possibility of making spatially resolved measurements using a diode-array detector was also investigated....
