OBJECTIVE This retrospective clinical investigation intends to examine the effectiveness of an Er:YAG laser used in conjunction with a dental operation microscope for apicoectomy, in comparison with the traditional surgical procedure. BACKGROUND DATA The Er-YAG laser has shown great potential in application to periapical surgery; however, clinical data are rare. METHODS To this end, 78 pati...

The single spike operation regime has been analyzed in the case of the SPARC injector and freeelectron-laser. Four different beams at 50 pC are studied, with different production condition and performance. SINGLE SPIKE OPERATION IN SPARC SASE-FEL I. Boscolo, F.Castelli, S. Cialdi, V. Self-starting of passively mode-locked lasers with fast saturable absorption is studied. Our basic assumption is that the lasers will self-start when cw operation is unstable and mode-locked operation is stable. We start with a standard model, closely related to the Ginzburg–Landau equation, that is valid when the change in the time variation of the laser light during one round trip through the...

We demonstrate an optically tunable graphene saturable absorber to manipulate the laser operation in pulsed fiber laser system. Owing to the strongly enhanced evanescent field interaction with monolayer graphene, we could realize an efficient control of modulation depth in the graphene saturable absorber by optical means through cross absorption modulation method. By integrating the tunable gra...

We describe a compact, economic and versatile diode laser system based on commercial laser diode and a collimation tube, optically stabilized by means of feedback from a diffraction grating. Detailed instructions for the construction and operation of the diode laser system are presented. These instructions include machine drawings for the parts to be constructed. Our system offers single-mode o...

The laser diode facet damage is one of the impeding factors of the high-power laser diode operation. To overcome this restriction laser diode facet coating can be utilized. During the high power operation of the laser diode, it is observed that the single layer anti reflection (AR) coating at the front facet shows optical damage while the multilayer high reflective coating at the back facet rem...

We report the operation of an optical in-well-pumped vertical-external-cavity surface-emitting laser. The laser delivers 1 W at 855 nm and is pumped with a cost-effective fiber-coupled laser diode emitting at 806 nm. The laser modal gain is examined and ways of optimizing the system are investigated and discussed.
