We prove descent theorems for semiorthogonal decompositions using techniques from derived algebraic geometry. Our methods allow us to capture more general filtrations of categories and even marked filtrations, where one descends not only admissible subcategories but also preferred objects.

A three-by-three matrix spectral problem for AKNS soliton hierarchy is proposed and the corresponding Bargmann symmetry constraint involved in Lax pairs and adjoint Lax pairs is discussed. The resulting nonlinearized Lax systems possess classical Hamiltonian structures, in which the nonlinearized spatial system is intimately related to stationary AKNS ows. These nonlin-earized Lax systems also ...

We outline a definition of accessible and presentable objects in 2-category K endowed with “KZ context”, that is to say pair lax-idempotent monads interacting prescribed way; this perspective suggests unified treatment many “Gabriel-Ulmer like” theorems, asserting how arise as reflections generating ones. the notion (Gabriel-Ulmer) envelope for KZ context, sufficient concoct Gabriel-Ulmer duali...

Gradient-descent methods have exhibited fast and reliable performance for image alignment in the facial domain, but have largely been ignored by the broader vision community. They require the image function be smooth and (numerically) differentiable – properties that hold for pixel-based representations obeying natural image statistics, but not for more general classes of non-linear feature tra...

Recent investigations of lax algebras—in generalization of Barr’s relational algebras—make an essential use of lax extensions of monad functors on Set to the category Rel(V) of sets and V-relations (where V is a unital quantale). For a given monad there may be many such lax extensions, and different constructions appear in the literature. The aim of this article is to shed a unifying light on t...

Impaired long-axis motion is a sensitive marker of systolic myocardial dysfunction, but no data are available that relate long-axis changes in systole with those in diastole, particularly in subjects with diastolic dysfunction and a 'normal' left ventricular (LV) ejection fraction. A total of 311 subjects (including 105 normal healthy volunteers) aged 20-89 years with variable degrees of systol...

In this paper we construct extensions of Set-monads – and, more generally, of lax Rel-monads – into lax monads of the bicategory Mat(V) of generalized V-matrices, whenever V is a well-behaved lattice equipped with a tensor product. We add some guiding examples.
