Furthermore, the effect of local anaesthetics on neuronal excitability and synaptic transmission in the hippocampus has not been reported. Thus, the purpose of the present study was to find out the differences between the local anaesthetics,...

Both local anaesthetics and calcium antagonists depress cardiac function. Therefore, we have studied the interaction of these compounds in the isolated myocardium of guineapigs. The negative inotropic effect of various local anaesthetics was investigated in left atria in the absence or presence of nitrendipine 10(-7) mol litre-1 (n = 7-8 in each group). In addition, the effect of bupivacaine wa...

Methemoglobinemia is a disorder characterized by the presence of a higher than normal level of methemoglobin. Prilocaine which is one of the oxidizing local anaesthetics is widely used in many local procedures. The first choice of treatment of complications due to the use of these local anaesthetics is methylene blue, while ascorbic acid is the alternative choice. The side effects of metilen bl...

BACKGROUND Distant metastasis or local recurrence after primary tumour resection remain a major clinical problem. The anaesthetic technique used during oncologic surgery is suggested to influence the metastatic process. While awaiting the results of ongoing randomised controlled trials (RCTs), we have analyzed the evidence regarding the influence of anaesthetic drugs on experimental tumour meta...
