We present constructions of a local and global common Lyapunov function for a finite family of pairwise commuting globally asymptotically stable nonlinear systems. The constructions are based on an iterative procedure, which at each step invokes a converse Lyapunov theorem for one of the individual systems. Our results extend a previously available one which relies on exponential stability of t...

This paper deals with a general class of discrete 2D systems based on the Roesser model. We first discuss the existing definitions of (Lyapunov) stability in the area of multidimensional systems and provide strong incentives to adopt new definitions in order to be coherent with the ones usually adopted in the 1D case. Once this background has been carefully designed, we develop different Lyapun...

Abstract—In this paper, a class of generalized bi-directional associative memory (BAM) neural networks with mixed delays is investigated. On the basis of Lyapunov stability theory and contraction mapping theorem, some new sufficient conditions are established for the existence and uniqueness and globally exponential stability of equilibrium, which generalize and improve the previously known res...

In this paper, the exponential stability of periodic solutions in inertial neural networks with unbounded delay are investigated. First, using variable substitution the system is transformed to first order differential equation. Second, by the fixed-point theorem and constructing suitable Lyapunov function, some sufficient conditions guaranteeing the existence and exponential stability of perio...

Most of the existing results on stochastic stability use a single Lyapunov function, but we shall instead use multiple Lyapunov functions in this paper. We shall establish the sufficient condition, in terms of multiple Lyapunov functions, for the asymptotic behaviours of solutions of stochastic differential delay equations. Moreover, from them follow many effective criteria on stochastic asympt...

In this note, we study the relationship between the sample and moment Lyapunov exponents for jump linear systems. Using a large deviation theorem, a modified version of Arnold’s formula for connecting sample path and moment Lyapunov exponents for continuous-time linear stochastic systems is extended to discrete-time jump linear systems. Sample path stability properties of linear stochastic syst...

We present sufficient and necessary conditions for exponential stability of autonomous nonlinear dynamical systems using piecewise quadratic Lyapunov functions. The necessary conditions are given as a converse theorem guaranteeing the existence of a global piecewise quadratic Lyapunov function for an exponentially stable system.

This paper presents a converse Lyapunov theorem for discrete-time systems with disturbances taking values in compact sets. Among several new stability results, it is shown that a smooth Lyapunov function exists for a family of time-varying discrete systems if these systems are robustly globally asymptotically stable. c © 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. The spectrum of one-dimensional discrete Schrödinger operators associated to strictly ergodic dynamical systems is shown to coincide with the set of zeros of the Lyapunov exponent if and only if the Lyapunov exponent exists uniformly. This is used to obtain Cantor spectrum of zero Lebesgue measure for all aperiodic subshifts with uniform positive weights. This covers, in particular, all aperiod...

The paper suggests a Takagi Sugeno (TS) fuzzy logic controller (FLC) designed to stabilize the Lorentz chaotic systems. The stability analysis of the fuzzy control system is performed using Barbashin-Krasovskii theorem. This paper proves that if the derivative of Lyapunov function is negative semi-definite for each fuzzy rule then the controlled Lorentz system is asymptotically stable in the se...
