heterogenously hyperintense and hypointense on with a renal lymphangiectasia. At 2.5 years of followup, she remains asymptomatic without radiological change. Renal lymphangiectasia is a rare, benign tion of the perirenal lymphatic system. The lymphatic structures that surround the kidney fail to establish normal communication with the rest of the lymphatic system. The physiopathological process...

Magnetic resonance imaging is increasingly being used to evaluate the lymphatic system. Advances in magnetic resonance (MR) software and hardware allow improved visualization of lymph nodes and lymphatic vessels. We describe how MR lymphangiography can be used to diagnose central lymphatic system anatomy and pathology, which can be used for diagnostic purposes or for pre-procedural planning.

Optical imaging methods have been developed to measure lymphatic function in skin; however, the lymphatic system of many organs is not accessible to this technology. Since lymphatic transport of macromolecules from any organ proceeds to the blood circulation, we aimed to develop a method that can measure lymphatic function by monitoring the fluorescence in a superficial vein of an interstitiall...

The lymphatic vascular system plays important roles in the maintenance of tissue fluid homeostasis, in the mediation of the afferent immune response, and in the metastatic spread of malignant tumors to regional lymph nodes. It consists of a dense network of blind ending, thin-walled lymphatic capillaries and collecting lymphatics that drain extravasated protein-rich fluid from most organs and t...

The LyMphaTic SySTeM The lymphatic system is vital for tissue homeostasis and relies on the tentative balance between the entry of lymphatic fluid from tissue and the ability of the system to transfer that fluid centrally. The lymphatic system consists of a deep system, the lymph collectors, and a superficial system, the lymph pre-collectors and capillaries. These two systems are separated by t...

introduction: kikuchi-fujimoto disease or histocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis is a rare, benign, self-limited condition characterized by constitutional symptoms, lymphadenopathy, and skin lesions and often affects young adult females.the etiology is unknown although viruses and autoimmune mechanisms has been suggested. diagnosis is fundamentally based on the affected lymph node biopsy.the pati...

RATIONALE Lymphatic vasculature constitutes a second vascular system essential for immune surveillance and tissue fluid homeostasis. Maturation of the hierarchical vascular structure, with a highly branched network of capillaries and ducts, is crucial for its function. Environmental cues mediate the remodeling process, but the mechanism that underlies this process is largely unknown. OBJECTIV...

The lymphatic system maintains tissue fluid balance, and dysfunction of lymphatic vessels and valves causes human lymphedema syndromes. Yet, our knowledge of the molecular mechanisms underlying lymphatic vessel development is still limited. Here, we show that cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (Cdk5) is an essential regulator of lymphatic vessel development. Endothelial-specific Cdk5 knockdown causes co...
