For primes p, we study the maximal possible size of a p-core p′-partition (a partition with no hook lengths or parts divisible by p). McDowell recently proved that maximum is attained unique partition, say Λp. Using his graph-theoretic description Λp, prove for p>106 that124p6−p5p<|Λp|<124p6−1200p5p, which shows |Λp|∼p6/24 as p→∞.
