Previously-obtained data, quantifying the degree of quality degradation resulting from a range of spatial audio processes (SAPs), can be used to build a regression model of perceived spatial audio quality in terms of previously developed spatially and timbrally relevant metrics. A generalizable model thus built, employing just five metrics and two principal components, performs well in its pred...

We find the greatest values $alpha_{1} $ and $alpha_{2} $, and the least values $beta_{1} $ and $beta_{2} $ such that the inequalities $alpha_{1} C(a,b)+(1-alpha_{1} )H(a,b)

The mean shift clustering algorithm is a useful tool for clustering numeric data. Recently, Chang-Chien et al. [1] proposed a mean shift clustering algorithm for circular data that are directional data on a plane. In this paper, we extend the mean shift clustering for directional data on a hypersphere. The three types of mean shift procedures are considered. With the proposed mean shift cluster...

Several approximate Mean Value Analysis (MVA) shared memory multiprocessor models have been developed and used to evaluate a number of system architectures. In recent years, the use of superscalar processors, multilevel cache hierarchies, and latency tolerating techniques has signi cantly increased the complexity of multiprocessor system modeling. We present an analytical performance model whic...

In [1], a novel best-mean approach to robust analysis and control over uncertain-parameters boxes was presented. This paper extends the results of [1] to convex uncertainty polytopes of arbitrary shape and arbitrary number of vertices, without an underlying parameters model. The paper addresses robust, polytopic, probabilistic H∞ analysis of linear systems and focuses on the performance distrib...

In this paper, we present various functional means in the sense of convex analysis. In particular, a logarithmic mean involving convex functionals, extending the scalar one, is introduced. In the quadratic case, our functional approach implies immediately that of positive operators. Some examples, illustrating theoretical results and showing the interest of our functional approach, are discussed.

In this paper, we propose a robust principal component analysis (PCA) to overcome the problem that PCA is prone to outliers included in the training set. Different from the other alternatives which commonly replace L2-norm by other distance measures, the proposed method alleviates the negative effect of outliers using the characteristic of the generalized mean keeping the use of the Euclidean d...

The present paper deals with the problem of calculating mean delays in polling systems with either exhaustive or gated service. We develop a mean value analysis (MVA) to compute these delay figures. The merits of MVA are in its intrinsic simplicity and its intuitively appealing derivation. As a consequence, MVA may be applied, both in an exact and approximate manner, to a large variety of models.

We consider concurrent games played by two-players on a finite-state graph, where in every round the players simultaneously choose a move, and the current state along with the joint moves determine the successor state. We study the most fundamental objective for concurrent games, namely, mean-payoff or limit-average objective, where a reward is associated to each transition, and the goal of pla...
