The metallic elements concentrations of medicinal plants (coriander, dill, Echinacea, lavender, chamomile, mint, and plantain, used for phytopharmaceutical products), cultivated in unpolluted region, were analyzed by neutron activation analysis. The essential nutrients, macro-, micro-, and trace elements (K, Ca, Mg, Na, Fe, Mn, Rb, Sr, and Zn), potentially toxic elements (Al, As, Ba, Co, Sb, Cr...

The variation of thermal and structural properties of 2-{[4-(2-hydroxybenzylideneamino) phenylimino]methyl}phenol (PAM)Schiff base were studied using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and powder X-ray diffraction techniques before and after fast neutron (1.050 and 1.740kGy), beta (11.01Gy) and gamma (453.0Gy) irradiations. Under fast neutron irradiation, the melting and decomposition enth...

Gamma ray activation spectra are used by nuclear physicists to identify the elemental composition of unknown substances. Neutron bombardment causes some of the atoms of a sample to change into unstable isotopes, which then decay, emitting gamma radiation at characteristic energies and intensities, By identifying these isotopes, the composition of the original substance can be determined. GAMMA ...

Developing a better understanding of xenon transport through porous systems is critical to predicting how this gas will enter the atmosphere after a below ground nuclear weapons test. Radioxenon monitoring is a vital part of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) International Monitoring System. This work details the development of prompt gamma activation analysis for measuring the di...

A package for gamma spectrum analysis (PGSA) was developed using objectoriented Borland C++ design for MS-windows. This package consists of five programs which can be used for gamma-ray spectrum analysis and routine neutron activation analysis. The advantages of PGSA are its simple algorithms and its need for only minimum amount of input information.
