Graphite like C3N4 (g-C3N4) was synthesized facilely via the low temperature thermal condensation of melamine between 300-650°C. The results showed that the products maintained as melamine when the temperature is below 300°C. With the increase of temperature, the products were transformed into carbon nitride and amorphous g-C3N4 successively. The morphology of products was changed from spherica...

Continuum based models are presented here for certain boron nitride and carbon nanostructures. In particular, certain fullerene interactions, C(60)-C(60), B(36)N(36)-B(36)N(36) and C(60)-B(36)N(36), and fullerene-nanotube oscillator interactions, C(60)-boron nitride nanotube, C(60)-carbon nanotube, B(36)N(36)-boron nitride nanotube and B(36)N(36)-carbon nanotube, are studied using the Lennard-...

Successful synthesis of the stable metal-free two-dimensional polymer graphitic carbon-nitride with remarkable properties has made it as one of the most promising nanostructures in many novel nanodevices, especially photocatalytic ones. Understanding the mechanical properties of nanostructures is of crucial importance. Thus, this study employs density functional theory (DFT) to obtain the mecha...

Effect of CaCO3 on carbothermic formation of hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) was investigated. B2O3–C mixtures containing CaCO3 additive were reacted at 1500   for 120 min in nitrogen atmosphere. Formed phases in the reaction products were determined by powder-XRD analyses, and amounts of the constituents were determined by chemical analyses. Particle size and morphology of the formed h-BN powde...

Mesoporous, micro/nanosized TiO2/C composites with uniformly dispersed TiO2 nanoparticles embedded in a carbon matrix have been rationally designed and synthesized. In brief, TiO2 precursor was infiltrated into the channels of surface-oxidized mesoporous carbon (CMK-3) by means of electrostatic interaction, followed by in situ hydrolysis and growth of TiO2 nanocrystallites, resulting in ultrafi...

Electrocatalysts for hydrogen oxidation and methanol oxidation are the heart of the proton exchange membrane fuel cell. In spite of tremendous efforts, developing low-cost anodic electrocatalysts with high catalytic activity and corrosion resistance is still a great challenge. Here, we report a nanocomposite consisting of oriented WO3 nanorods grown in ordered mesoporous carbon as a high-perfor...

Efficient and low-cost electrocatalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction are highly desired for future renewable energy systems. Described herein is the reduction of water to hydrogen using a metal-free carbon nitride electrocatalyst which operates in neutral and alkaline environments. An efficient, easy, and general method for growing ordered carbon nitride on different electrodes was devel...

the electronic and structural properties of pristine and carbon doped (c-doped) boron nitride nano-ribbons(bnnrs) have been studied employing density functional theory (dft) calculations. total energies, gapenergies, dipole moments, and quadrupole coupling constants (qcc) have been calculated in the optimizedstructures of the investigated bnnrs. the results indicated that the stability and gap ...

Millimetre-sized mesoporous carbon spheres (MMCSs) with smooth surface and penetrating mesoporous channels have been successfully prepared by an emulsion-EISA technique, and are found to be a much better bilirubin adsorbent than commercial activated carbon spheres. Hemolysis and coagulation assays of MMCSs indicate that they have negligible hemolysis effect and do not induce blood coagulation.
