Now that system-on-chip technology is emerging, single-chip multi-processors are becoming feasible. A key problem of designing such systems is the complexity of their on-chip interconnects and memory architecture. It is furthermore unclear at what level software should be integrated. An example of a single-chip multi-processor for real-time (networked) embedded systems is the multi-microprocess...

The development of a high performance radiation hardened PowerPC microprocessor is nearing completion. The features of the RAD750 are described, as well as the process of radiation hardening the processor. The RAD750 product family includes a PCI support chip and a CompactPCI 3U board, both of which are described.

The DFT and Test challenges faced, and the solutions applied, to the ARM1026EJ microprocessor core are described in this paper. New DFT techniques have been created to address the challenges of distributing a DFT core solution that will ultimately end up in many different environments. This core was instantiated into a test chip. The new DFT features were utilized successfully in the SoC.

A library visitor would want a quiet atmosphere without noise when in the so that he can concentrate reading book. However, not all visitors come to read books; some chat and use free Wi-Fi or other, it disturbs concentration of other who books. Therefore, is necessary have tool detect sound pressure based on level produced limit library, namely 45-55 dB (desible). This designed microcontroller...

The architecture of a neuro-microprocessor is presented. This processor was designed using the results of careful analysis of a set of applications and extensive simulation of moderate-precision arithmetic for back-propagation networks. Simulated performance results and test-chip results for the processor are presented. This work is an important intermediate step in the development of a connect...

Digital system such as system-on-chip microprocessor generally requires Phased-Locked Loop (PLL) for clock generation. However, traditional analog PLL typically contains several important components not included in a standard cell library, such as resistor and low leakage capacitor, which makes it difficult to integrate into a digital system. In addition, its performance is limited by process, ...

The first microprocessor, the Intel 4004, showed up in 1971. It contained 2300 transistors and operated at a clock frequency of 108 kHz. Today, 30 years later, the microprocessor contains almost 200 million transistors, operating at a frequency of more than 1 GHz. In five years, those numbers are expected to grow to more than a billion transistors on a single chip, operating at a clock frequenc...

In this paper, we address the system-level implications of processor/memory integration. Specifically, we explore the effects that very large on-processor memories will have upon both the memory hierarchy as a whole and the processor organization. Our focus is on the migration of memory to the processor, not the migration of inexpensive processors onto commodity DRAM parts (the feasibility of t...

This paper describes the development of a complementary GaAs PowerPCTM microprocessor suitable for space applications. Motorola’s 0.5μm Complementary GaAs (CGaAsTM) process was selected as the semiconductor technology because of its unique abilities to meet the requirements of space and satellite systems. Recently published findings indicate that CGaAs has a power-delay product of 0.01 μW/MHz/g...
