A novel method for the synthesis of nitro fatty acids (NFAs), an intriguing class endogenously occurring lipid mediators, is reported. This one-pot procedure enables controlled and stereoselective construction from a simple set common building blocks in highly facile manner. Thereby, this methodology offers streamlined, modular access to naturally as well non-natural NFA derivatives.
