Because of their mechanical strength, chemical stability, and low molecular weight, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are attractive biological implant materials. Biomaterials are typically implanted into subcutaneous tissue or bone; however, the long-term biopersistence of CNTs in these tissues is unknown. Here, tangled oxidized multi-walled CNTs (t-ox-MWCNTs) were implanted into rat subcutaneous tissue...

In this study we compare the biodegradation of both single-walled (SWCNTs) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) using two different oxidative conditions. In particular, we demonstrate that oxidized multi-walled carbon nanotubes are highly degraded, although not to completeness when treated with horseradish peroxidase (HRP) in the presence of hydrogen peroxide.

The Heller’s color test for indican in urine is interesting because besides detecting this important biomarker it reveals the dual function of nitric acid since can accomplish synthesis indigo blue and red, as well degrade them to isatin, depending upon reaction conditions. Moreover, inspired other tests detection, using oxidizing reagents. Actually, detected by a colour chart with different to...

As multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) come to be used in a wider range of products, increasing production is expected to result in greater exposure of workers to MWCNTs. In this research, we present a method for evaluating the concentration of MWCNT aerosols distinctively on the basis of the elemental carbon (EC) concentration. Respirable dust is sampled using a Sioutas cascade impactor (SCI)...

Low color visibility and poor mechanical strength of polystyrene (PS) photonic crystal films have been the main shortcomings for the potential applications in paints or displays. This paper presents a simple method to fabricate PS/MWCNTs (multi-walled carbon nanotubes) composite photonic crystal films with enhanced color visibility and mechanical strength. First, MWCNTs was modified through rad...

introduction: carbon nanotubes (cnts) have shown enormous potential in neuroscience. nerve growth factor (ngf)-cnts complex promotes the neuronal growth, however, the underlying mechanism(s) have remained elusive. based on the interplay between ngf and the endocannabinoid system, involvement of the neuroprotective endocannabinoid, 2-arachidonoyl glycerol (2-ag), was investigated in the mechanis...

A non-flame atomizer incorporating a graphite tube and cup is used to determine lead in whole blood and packed erythrocytes. In a direct method, a 2-mu-l sample is treated in situ in the cup with 1 mu-l of concentrated nitric acid. The oxidized sample can then be dried, ashed, and atomized without leaving a residue. The nitric acid treatment obviates correction for nonselective absorption, some...

We have investigated the room-temperature sensing enhancement of Ag nanoparticles (NPs) for multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT)-based gas sensors using electrical measurements, in situ infrared (IR) microspectroscopy, and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Multiple hybrid nanosensors with structures of MWCNTs/SnO(2)/Ag and MWCNTs/Ag have been synthesized using a process that combines...
