The observation of neutrino oscillations is clear evidence for physics beyond the standard model. To make precise measurements of this phenomenon, neutrino oscillation experiments, including MiniBooNE, require an accurate description of neutrino charged current quasielastic (CCQE) cross sections to predict signal samples. Using a high-statistics sample of nu_(mu) CCQE events, MiniBooNE finds th...

Randomization of quantum states is the quantum analogue of the classical one-time pad. We present an improved, efficient construction of an approximately randomizing map that uses O(d/ ) Pauli operators to map any d-dimensional state to a state that is within trace distance of the completely mixed state. Our bound is a log d factor smaller than that of Hayden, Leung, Shor, and Winter [7], and A...

A generalization of the pseudoclassical action of a spinning particle in the presence of an anomalous magnetic moment is given. The leading considerations, to write the action, are gotten from the path integral representation for the causal Green's function of the generalized (by Pauli) Dirac equation for the particle with anomalous magnetic momentum in an external electromagnetic field. The ac...

The ηcγ transition form factor is calculated in a model based on a modified hard scattering approach to exclusive reactions, in which transverse degrees of freedom are taken into account. For the ηc-meson a distribution amplitude of the Bauer-Stech-Wirbel type is used, where the two free parameters, namely the decay constant fηc and the transverse size of the wave function, are related to the F...

We consider the problem of nding rigorous results for the dynamics of a classical charged point particle interacting with the electromagnetic eld, as described by the standard Maxwell{Lorentz equations. Some results are given for the corresponding linearized system, i.e. the so called dipole approximation, in the presence of a mechanical linear restoring force. We regularize the system by takin...

The D * Dπ form factor is evaluated in a QCD sum rule calculation for both D and π off-shell mesons. We study the Borel sum rule for the three point function of one pseudoscalar, one axial and one vector meson currents. We find that the momentum dependence of the form factors is very different if the D or the π meson is off-shell, but they lead to the same coupling constant in the D * Dπ vertex.

We present a dynamical alternative to inelastic dark matter as a way of reconciling the modulating signal seen at DAMA with null results at other direct detection experiments. The essential ingredient is a new form factor which introduces momentum dependence in the interaction of dark matter with nuclei. The role of the form factor is to suppress events at low momentum transfer. We find that a ...

In this work, based on the experimental electron density, we present the approximate spatial distributions of the Pauli potential, one of the key quantities in the orbital-free density functional, for three crystalline systems: diamond, cubic boron nitride, and magnesium diboride. Our aim is to reveal a link between the Pauli potential and the orbital-free picture of chemical bond. We also expa...
