It is increasingly recognized that a variety of musculoskeletal disorders significantly influence sleep. In individuals with sleep dysfunction caused by hip pain (coxalgia somnia) from osteoarthritis, total arthroplasty has reliably improved and quality in most patients. nonarthritic, nondysplastic femoroacetabular impingement syndrome cam and/or pincer morphology labral tears, arthroscopy simi...
Here we describe a 28-year-old man with a history of right hip pain for the past 11 years and ankylosing spondylitis for the past 6 months. Imaging studies showed an exostosis in the femoral neck causing femoroacetabular impingement. The patient was diagnosed with coxarthrosis. This case report suggests that femoroacetabular impingement may accelerate the degenerative process in the hip joint.
We present 2 cases of cam/pincer combined femoroacetabular impingement treated arthroscopically with labral debridement, acetabuloplasty, and femoral head recontouring. In both cases there was essentially no evidence of osteoarthritis of the hip. However, in both cases raised exostoses were evident on the anterolateral femoral neck in the region that commonly comes into contact with the acetabu...
Femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) refers to a condition characterized by impingement of the femoral head-neck junction against the acetabular rim, often due to underlying osseous and/or soft tissue morphological abnormalities. It is a common cause of hip pain and limited range of motion in young and middle-aged adults. Hip preservation surgery aims to correct the morphological variants seen in...
INTRODUCTION Surgical treatment is the treatment of choice in patients with symptoms and radiological signs of femoroacetabular impingement. OBJECTIVE Our experience and early results of surgical treatment of patients with signs of femoroacetabular impingement and early hip osteoarthritis are reported. METHODS The results of treatment of 21 patients aged 23-54 years with different types of ...
This is a report of one case of bilateral acetabular rim fracture in association with femoroacetabular impingement (FAI), which was treated with a hip arthroscopic procedure, performing a partial resection, a labral reinsertion, and a subsequential internal fixation with cannulated screws. Up to date, there are in the literature only two reports of rim fracture and "os acetabuli" in association...
To report the operative findings and outcomes of hip arthroscopy for recurrent pain following periacetabular osteotomy (PAO) for acetabular dysplasia. A departmental database was used to identify patients who underwent hip arthroscopy following PAO between 2000 and 2009. Demographic data, arthroscopic findings, functional outcome scores and patient satisfaction were analysed. Of 556 PAO patient...
Femoroacetabular impingement is recognised as being a cause of labral tears and chondral damage. We report a series of five patients who presented with persistent pain in the hip after arthroscopy for isolated labral debridement. All five had a bony abnormality consistent with cam-type femoroacetabular impingement. They had a further operation to correct the abnormality by chondro-osteoplasty o...
