The oxime click reaction is shown to be a straightforward methodology for the synthesis of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG)-polysaccharide diblock copolymers. The method is applicable to unmodified polysaccharides with a reductive end as demonstrated for dextran, hyaluronic acid and chitosan. Notably the oxime click reaction is applied for the first time to the end modification of polysaccharides.

The possibility of using glycol chitosan to obtain stabilized liposome containers for doxorubicin delivery is demonstrated. The dissociation constants of the liposome complexes with glycol chitosan (3.4 × 10–4 and 1.10 × 10–5 depending on the aggregation state of the liposomes) are determined. It is shown that the formation of liposome complexes with glycol chitosan has a significant prolongati...

The synthesis of a new phenolphthalein azide derivative, which can be easily utilized in polymer analogous reactions, is presented. The subsequent cycloaddition reaction with propargyl-functionalized methoxypoly(ethylene glycol) yielded polymers bearing phenolphthalein as the covalently attached end group. In presence of per-β-cyclodextrin-dipentaerythritol, the formation of stable inclusion co...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to determine the distribution of polyethylene glycol-conjugated superoxide dismutase in the brain, cerebrospinal fluid, and various organs. METHODS Distribution of iodine-125-labeled polyethylene glycol-conjugated superoxide dismutase was determined in three groups of male Sprague-Dawley rats: a normotensive sham control group (n = 9) and g...

Super-dense transfected cell microarrays (TCMs) were created by a piezoelectric inkjet printer on a glass substrate that had been grafted with poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG). The micro-spots that contained plasmid and extra-cellular matrix (ECM) protein were separated from one another by a hydrophilic barrier generated by PEG. We successfully constructed the densest TCMs with spots of 50 μm in dia...

A widely accepted approach to combat surface fouling is based on the prevention of biofoulants to attach to a surface by the functionalization with poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG). The goal of this study was to generate a proof of concept for the enzymatic coupling of PEG to a peptide precoated surface by using the enzyme Sortase A (SrtA). A hydrophobic polystyrene surface was primed with anchoring...
