The radiofrequency scalpel is an innovative instrument which allows to cut and coagulate tissues in an atraumatic manner, conversely to the electric scalpel. The authors describe the use of radiofrequencies in proctology by making a literature review for every major proctologic disease (hemorrhoids, anal fistulas, anal fissure, sinus pilonidalis, hypertrophied anal papillae). Many techniques ha...

ABSTRACT Acne, of great prevalence and impact, presents many forms that can be treated by hygiene, topical medications, manual alternative interventions such as skin cleansing electrotherapy. The use radiofrequency in the treatment acne aims to increase temperature cutaneous tissue, causing several metabolic structural reactions, stimulating neocollagenesis. This study aimed investigate high-fr...

mobile phone use and wireless communication technology have grown explosively over the past decades. this rapid growth has caused widespread global concern about the potential detrimental effects of this technology on human health. stem cells generate specialized cell types of the tissue in which they reside through normal differentiation pathways. considering the undeniable importance of stem ...

An increase in cardiac radiofrequency catheter ablation for treating refractory atrial fibrillation has resulted in an increased prevalence of complications. Among numerous complications of radiofrequency catheter ablation, atrio-esophageal fistula, although rare, is known to have fatal results. We report a case of successful management of an atrio-esophageal fistula as a complication of cardia...

We report the successful use of water-cooled radiofrequency where more traditional forms of neuroablation-conventional and pulsed radiofrequency-had failed to achieve adequate pain relief. We also discuss the mechanism of neural damage with water cooled radiofrequency and discuss why this technique may have a broader role in the management of a wide array of pain syndromes.

INTRODUCTION Although rare, the atrioesophageal fistula is one of the most feared complications in radiofrequency catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation due to the high risk of mortality. OBJECTIVE This is a prospective controlled study, performed during regular radiofrequency catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation, to test whether esophageal displacement by handling the transesophageal e...

Although many head and neck surgeons agree that complete surgical excision is the treatment of choice for lymphatic malformation, the infiltrating nature of microcystic lymphatic malformations and the involvement of vital structures of the head and neck make total removal nearly impossible in most cases. Recently radiofrequency ablation was introduced for the treatment of microcystic lymphatic ...

Radiofrequency radiation dosimetry describes how this radiation is being absorbed in the body. The basic units of measuring the radiofrequency exposure are the electric E (V/m), magnetic B (A/m) field strength, the power density S (W/m 2 ), and the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) (W/kg). Many studies have made use of different types of instruments to assess the level of radiofrequency radiation ...

Ultrabroad-bandwidth radiofrequency pulses offer significant applications potential, such as increased data transmission rate and multipath tolerance in wireless communications. Such ultrabroad-bandwidth pulses are inherently difficult to generate with chip-based electronics due to limits in digital-to-analog converter technology and high timing jitter. Photonic means of radiofrequency waveform...
