Chronic necrotizing pulmonary aspergillosis is a chronic semi invasive pulmonary disease. It is an uncommon disease and has never been reported in transplant recipients. We report a case of chronic necrotizing pulmonary aspergillosis in a renal transplant recipient.
Adenocarcinoma ex goblet cell carcinoid is a rare neoplasm of appendiceal origin that contains features of both carcinoid tumor and adenocarcinoma. We report on a case of a 45-year-old woman, post-renal transplant who presented with ovarian metastases from this tumor. This appears to be the first report of an adenocarcinoma ex goblet cell carcinoid in a renal transplant recipient.
Renal lipomatosis was diagnosed in a kidney transplant recipient who presented with acute kidney injury (AKI) several years after transplantation. The patient had an odd-looking kidney transplant on ultrasound and computed tomography (CT) scan, showing a medullary mass with resultant compression of the surrounding renal parenchyma. A biopsy of the renal medulla confirmed fatty infiltration of t...
Adrenal insufficiency is a rare manifestation of tissue-invasive cytomegalovirus (CMV) disease. CMV is one of the leading opportunistic pathogens affecting renal transplant recipients. Its prevalence in the adrenal glands of autopsied AIDS cases has been well documented. We report a rare case of CMV-associated adrenal insufficiency in a renal transplant recipient.
With the present progress in transplantation procedures, there is an improvement in patient and allograft survival. However, the immunosuppression necessary to sustain the allograft predisposes these transplant recipients to infection, which is now a significant cause of morbidity and mortality. We describe a case of a 30-year-old renal transplant recipient with two opportunistic infections, na...
Post-transplant lymphoproliferative disease (PTLD) is a rare but life-threatening complication after solid organ transplantation. The risk of PTLD varies with recipient age, serostatus of the donor and the recipient for Epstein-Barr virus, type of organ transplanted, and intensity of immunosuppression. The risk of PTLD is highest in the early post-transplant period, but the cumulative risk incr...
Abstract Purpose Outcomes of renal-transplant-recipients with Class 3 obesity (severely obese) is extremely limited. An outcome-analysis severely- obese transplant recipients reported to UK-NHSBT-Transplant-Registry was performed. Methods We harmonized the NHSBT-UK-Data shortlist renal-transplants performed on 3-obese in UK from 2000-2019. The demographics-report and survival-analysis at 1,3 5 ...
INTRODUCTION Tuberculosis can present in many varied clinical situations in immunosuppressed patients. It has been reported that the sigmoid colon is the most common site for colonic perforation in renal transplant recipients and diverticulitis is its most common cause. Cecal perforation because of tuberculosis is extremely rare in a renal transplant recipient. We present the case of a renal tr...
Diarrhoea after renal transplantation is not an uncommon problem [1]. We present the case of a 61-year-old renal transplant recipient on mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) and steroids who presented with chronic diarrhoea and substantial weight loss. The diarrhoea was ascribed to MMF and the patient was converted to enteric-coated mycophenolic sodium (EC-MPS), without effect. Comprehensive workup reve...
