A non-linear relativistic 4D field model of a quantum particle which emerges from the internal dynamics in the quantum phase space CP (N − 1) is proposed. In this model there is no distinction between 'particle' and its 'surrounding field', and the space-time manifold emerges from the description of the quantum state. The quantum observables of the 'quan-tum particle field' are described in ter...

The present paper is to focus on a boundary value problem in a homogeneous, isotropic, elastic body with double porosity. After developing mathematical formulation, a state space approach has been applied to investigate the problem. As an application of the approach, normal force has been taken to illustrate the utility of the approach. The expressions for the components of normal stress and eq...

This paper treats absorption problems for the one-dimensional quantum random walk determined by a 2× 2 unitary matrix U on a state space {0, 1, . . . ,N} where N is finite or infinite by using a new path integral approach based on an orthonormal basis P,Q,R and S of the vector space of complex 2× 2 matrices. Our method studied here is a natural extension of the approach in the classical random ...

Given a probability measure over a state space, a partial collection (sub-σalgebra) of events whose probabilities are known, induces a capacity over the collection of all possible events. The induced capacity of an event F is the probability of the maximal (with respect to inclusion) event contained in F whose probability is known. The Choquet integral with respect to the induced capacity coinc...

This study evaluates five representative linear explicit finite difference schemes for solving the energy transport equation in district heating networks (DHN). Specifically for the QUICKEST scheme a robust modification to the original formulation is proposed which overcomes the problem originating from different flow situations at pipe junctions. All methods were put into the versatile state s...

A method for sensor fault estimation in multiple-input multiple-output linear time varying systems is proposed in this paper. It is based on a new adaptive observer for joint estimation of states and sensor faults in a state-space formulation of the monitored system. The exponential convergence of the algorithm is proved under some persistent excitation condition. Copyright c ©2005 IFAC

This paper presents a novel approach to computing feedback laws in the presence of obstacles. Instead of computing a trajectory between a pair of initial and goal states, our algorithms compute a vector field over the entire state space; all trajectories obtained from following this vector field are guaranteed to asymptotically reach the goal state. As a result, the vector field globally solves...

The aim of this paper is to provide an intrinsic Hamiltonian jormulation of the equations of motion ofnetwork models of non-resistive physical systems. A recently developed extension of the classical Hamiltonian equations of motion considers systems with state space given by Poisson manifolds endowed with degenerate Poisson structures, examples of which naturally appear in the reduction of’ sys...

The present work is concerned with unsteady free convection flow of an incompressible electrically conducting micropolar fluid, bounded by an infinite vertical plane surface of constant temperature. A uniform magnetic field acts perpendicularly to the plane. The state space technique is adopted for the one-dimensional problems including heat sources with one relaxation time. The resulting formu...

The Euclidean action with acceleration has been analyzed in Ref. 1, and referred to henceforth as Paper I, for its Hamiltonian and path integral. In this paper, the state space of the Hamiltonian is analyzed for the case when it is pseudo-Hermitian (equivalent to a Hermitian Hamiltonian), as well as the case when it is inequivalent. The propagator is computed using both creation and destruction...
