let $g$ be a finite group. a subgroup $h$ of $g$ is called an $mathcal h $ -subgroup in $g$ if $n_g (h)cap h^gleq h$ for all $gin g$. a subgroup $h$ of $g$ is called a weakly $mathcal h^ast $-subgroup in $g$ if there exists a subgroup $k$ of $g$ such that $g=hk$ and $hcap k$ is an $mathcal h$-subgroup in $g$. we investigate the structure of the finite group $g$ under the assump...
This book is especially designed to help those beginning work in junior trail11"! j centres. The need for one has long been felt and the book is brief, simple, warmhear , | and encouraging, dealing in an understanding way with the problems of both teachers a j children. New teachers will also find the chapters on subnormality and on phys'c handicaps most useful. ^ Inexplicably, the chapters on ...
by Margaret Adams. Heinemann. 25s. Work with the mentally subnormal has always demanded a high degree of skill and the failure to recognise this reflects society's attitude to the handicap. This attitude is fortunately in process of being modified and Margaret Adams is to be congratulated on bringing together a team of people who can speak with such authority of the rewarding nature of work wit...
Act and of the present Minister of Health has been to treat as many Patients as possible in the community for the sake of their own health. The economics of the nation are likely to benefit too, for although this Procedure entails having a number of extra people in the community, skilled to deal with those in their midst, and extra teaching for those who are already coping with this problem, th...
Few studies have assessed the relationship between a subnormal inflammatory status and metabolic syndrome (MS). We therefore designed a cross-sectional and 5-year cohort study to evaluate how a subnormal peripheral blood leukocyte count is related to MS. Participants were recruited from Tianjin Medical University General Hospital-Health Management Centre. Both a baseline cross-sectional (n = 46...
For a, b, c, d ≥ 0 with ad − bc > 0, we consider the unilateral weighted shift S(a, b, c, d) with weights αn := √ an+b cn+d (n ≥ 0). Using Schur product techniques, we prove that S(a, b, c, d) is always subnormal; more generally, we establish that for every p ≥ 1, all p-subshifts of S(a, b, c, d) are subnormal. As a consequence, we show that all Bergman-like weighted shifts are subnormal.
