The aim of this research was to prepare rare metal (Er, Yb)-modified TiO2 nanoparticles by a sol-gel method. The obtained nanoparticles were characterized by BET measurements, UV-Vis spectra and the Laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) method. Visible light photocatalytic activity of the sample was studied by photodegradation of phenol while considering the influence of the dopant concentration. Th...

The present manuscript describes the transformation and mineralization of methadone (MET) in aqueous solutions (demineralized water (DW) and synthetic municipal wastewater effluent (SWeff)) by natural solar irradiation and two solar photocatalytic processes: heterogeneous photocatalysis with titanium dioxide (TiO2) and homogeneous photocatalysis by photo-Fenton. Direct solar irradiation resulte...

titania nanotubes (tnt) prepared by anodization of ti foils were used for water splitting in a standalone cell. the concentration polarization between the anode side (1m naoh) and cathode side (0.5 m h2so4) ensured that the water splitting reaction could take place with no external bias and separate h2 and o2 evolution could be achieved. the destruction of tnt structures under 365 nm uv irradia...

More effective techniques are required to mineralize the increasing number of recalcitrant organic contaminants at low concentrations in the water environment using advanced oxidation process. Though relatively new, photocatalytic ozonation (O3/UV/TiO2) is considered superior to ozonation (O3) and photocatalysis (UV/TiO2), due to synergistic effects and use of immobilized TiO2 photocatalysts is...

We report here for the first time the synthesis of two novel hierarchical homogeneous nanoarchitectures of TiO2 nanorods branched TiO2 nanotube arrays (BTs) and P25-coated TiO2 nanotube arrays (PCTs) using two-step method including electrochemical anodization and hydrothermal modification process. Then the photocurrent densities versus applied potentials of BTs, PCTs, and pure TiO2 nanotube arr...

TiO2 photocatalysis can be performed for the addition of pyridines to vinylarenes in an anti-Markovnikov manner. Seven examples with considerable yields (56-91%) and selectivity were demonstrated. A comparative survey of the involved process through ESR revealed a novel concerted two electron transfer pathway for these photocatalytic bimolecular addition reactions.

Evidence is presented for radio-frequency plasma pretreatment enhancing the amount and adhesion of TiO2 sputtered on polyester (PES) and on polyethylene (PE) films. Pretreatment is necessary to attain a suitable TiO2 loading leading to an acceptable Escherichia coli reduction kinetics in the dark or under light irradiation for PES-TiO2 and PE-TiO2 samples. The amount of TiO2 on the films was mo...
