It is shown that every finitely generated inverse subsemigroup (submonoid) of the monogenic free inverse semigroup (monoid) is finitely presented. As a consequence, the homomorphism and the isomorphism problems for the monogenic free inverse semigroup (monoid) are proved to be decidable.

The set of partial automorphisms of the Cayley color graph of an inverse semigroup or a groupoid is isomorphic to the original inverse semigroup or groupoid. In this paper, we apply the theory of inverse semigroups to the C∗-algebra U [Z] considered in [Cun08]. We show that the C∗-algebra U [Z] is generated by an inverse semigroup of partial isometries. We explicity identify the groupoid Gtight associated to the inverse semigroup and show that Gtight is exactly the same groupoid obtained in [CL10].
