Background and Aim: Tubular penetration of root canal sealers prevents filling material displacement and overgrowth of microorganisms in dentinal tubules. The aim of this study was to compare the tubular penetration of AH26, EasySeal, and SureSeal sealers in single-rooted teeth using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Materials and Methods: Fifty human single-rooted teeth were included in thi...

Tubular damage by cisplatin leads to acute renal failure, which limits its use in cancer therapy. In tubular cells, a primary target for cisplatin is presumably the genomic DNA. However, the pathway relaying the signals of DNA damage to tubular cell death is unclear. In response to DNA damage, the tumor suppressor gene p53 is induced and is implicated in subsequent DNA repair and cell death by ...

the combustion process of tio2- 2mg- c and 3tio2-4al-3c systems in a tubular furnace was investigated. tic has been synthesized by the magnesiothermic reaction from a mixture of compacted powders of tio2, mg and charcoal as starting materials in the presence and absence of nacl. the effects of temperature, pressure, and the stoichiometry ratio in the reaction yield have been studied. the result...

Background: Hyperuricemia contributes to kidney injury, characterized by tubular injury with epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT). Wnt5a/Ror2 signaling drives EMT in many kidney pathologies. This study sought to evaluate the involvement of Wnt5a/Ror2 in hyperuricemia-induced EMT in kidney tubular injury. Methods: A hyperuricemia model was performed in male Swiss background mice (3 months old,...

Introduction: Renal Ischemia Reperfusion is considered to be one of the causes of acute renal failure (AKI). In addition, renal ischemia is an important incident usually occurs due to renal transplantion, repair of suprarenal aneurysm, hemorrhagic shock. A recent study reported that reactive oxygen species (ROS) are important mediators of AKI. It seems essential to use antioxidant to decrease t...

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is an abrupt reduction in kidney function caused by different pathological processes. It is associated with a significant morbidity and mortality in the acute phase and an increased risk of developing End Stage Renal Disease. Despite the progress in the management of the disease, mortality rates in the last five decades remain unchanged at around 50%. Therefore there i...

BACKGROUND/AIMS Interferon treatment of malignant or viral diseases can be accompanied by various side-effects including nephro-toxicity. METHODS We report on a 68-year-old Caucasian male who received dual therapy with pegylated interferon 2a plus ribavirin for chronic hepatitis C. RESULTS After three months of antiviral therapy, the patient developed acute kidney failure (serum creatinine ...

The possibility that proteinuria may accelerate kidney disease progression to end-stage renal failure has received support from the results of increasing numbers of experimental and clinical studies. Evidence indicating that this process occurs through multiple pathways, including induction of tubular chemokine expression and complement activation that lead to inflammatory cell infiltration in ...

Plant toxins are known to cause acute kidney injury in tropical countries. We report two cases of acute kidney injury with tubular oxalate deposition following ingestion of Averrhoa bilimbi fruit juice. Both patients had complete renal recovery though one required dialytic support.
