OBJECTIVES To compare two Bayesian models capable of identifying unusual and unstable temporal patterns in spatiotemporal data. SETTING Annual counts of mammography screening users from each statistical local area (SLA) in Brisbane, Australia, recorded between 1997 and 2008 inclusive. PRIMARY OUTCOME MEASURES Mammography screening counts. RESULTS The temporal trends of 91 SLAs (58%) were ...

We present a new technique for the analysis of spatiotemporal data. In our approach the concept of intermediate-scale determinism is combined with a test on unstable periodic orbits. A comparison of original data with appropriate surrogate data provides a statistical assessment of the results. The method is applied to both numerically generated data and data from a natural system.

In this paper, we study probabilistic and rough set approaches to missing attribute values. Probabilistic approaches are based on imputation, a missing attribute value is replaced either by the most probable known attribute value or by the most probable attribute value restricted to a concept. In this paper, in a rough set approach to missing attribute values we consider two interpretations of ...

Classification is an important research topic in data mining field, and it is one of main task of data mining. CBA (Classification Based on Associations) is a classification algorithm integration association rule mining and classification. CBA has been widely used in data mining areas because it has high classification accuracy and strong flexibility at handling unstructured data. However, when...

The evaluation algorithm is based on the attributes of data objects. There is a certain correlation between attributes, and attributes are divided into key attributes and secondary attributes. The evaluation from the data objects in a hierarchical design based on key attributes can reduce the data size and algorithm complexity, and without prejudice on the basis of evaluation results can improv...

Management research based on general linear statistical models has been rapidly moving toward a greater and richer use of longitudinal (panel data) econometric methods able to cope with critical issues such as endogeneity and reverse causality. By contrast, set-theoretic empirical research in management, despite its growing diffusion, has been solely focused on crosssectional analysis to date. ...
