In this article, it is proved that under some conditions every bijective Jordan triple product homomorphism from generalized matrix algebras onto rings is additive. As a corollary, we obtain that every bijective Jordan triple product homomorphism from Mn(A) (A is not necessarily a prime algebra) onto an arbitrary ring R is additive.
The paper attempts a systematic study of homomorphisms of relational structures. Such structures are modeled as multialgebras (i.e., relation is represented as a set-valued function). The rst, main, result is that, under reasonable restrictions on the form of the deenition of homomorphism, there are exactly nine compositional homomorphisms of multialgebras. Then the comparison of the obtained c...
1. Introduction Let B be a commutative Banach algebra, and let 6 be a homomorphism from B into a Banach algebra A. In this paper we are concerned with establishing conditions on A and B which ensure that 6 is continuous. If A is semisimple, it is well known that any such homomorphism must be continuous, and therefore we shall be interested in cases where A is not semisimple. Questions of this n...
The canonical trace on the reduced C∗-algebra of a discrete group gives rise to a homomorphism from the K-theory of this C∗-algebra to the real numbers. This paper studies the range of this homomorphism. For torsion free groups, the Baum-Connes conjecture together with Atiyah’s L-index theorem implies that the range consists of the integers. We give a direct and elementary proof that if G acts ...

Let G be a smooth affine group over a field k, and λ : Gm → G a k-homomorphism (possibly trivial, though that case is not interesting). One often calls λ a 1-parameter k-subgroup of G, even when kerλ 6= 1. Such a homomorphism defines a left action of Gm on G via the functorial procedure t.g = λ(t)gλ(t)−1 for g ∈ G(R) and t ∈ R× for any k-algebra R. In lecture we introduced the following associa...
LetA be a finite-dimensional commutative algebra over the complex numbers with nonzero multiplicative identity element e. Let M denote the set of homomorphisms from A onto the complex numbers. Thus we get a homomorphism from A into the algebra of complex-valued functions on M, with respect to pointwise addition and multiplication of functions, by sending an element x of A to the function on M w...
We establish a necessary condition for a commutative Banach algebra A so that there exists a homomorphism θ from A into another Banach algebra such that the prime radical of the continuity ideal of θ is not a finite intersection of prime ideals in A. We prove that the prime radical of the continuity ideal of an epimorphism from A onto another Banach algebra (or of a derivation from A into a Ban...
Although every computable data type has an initial algebra speci-cation with hidden functions, it may happen that some of the homo-morphic images of the data type are not models of the speciication. The latter are reducts of algebras that would be models of the specii-cation if all its functions were visible, whereas the homomorphic images of the data type are independent of the speciication an...
