Allyl and 2-methylallyl indium compounds were prepared by salt metathesis starting from indium trichloride and a Grignard reagent. They are highly fluxional in solution and reveal coordination numbers of the indium atoms of four and five in the solid state.

Iron-catalyzed trifluoromethylation with concomitant 1,2-migration of an aryl group starting from diaryl allyl alcohol was achieved under mild conditions. This reaction system affords α-substituted-β-trifluoromethyl carbonyl compounds in high efficiency. In the case of substrates bearing different aryl groups, selective migration was observed.
The gold(I)-catalyzed endo-cyclization of o-(1-hydroxyallyl)phenols to form chromenes is reported. The title compounds are prepared in high yield from readily available substrates. The system tolerates both electron rich and deficient aryl rings and a high degree of substitution on the allyl moiety.
The title compound, C(15)H(21)NO(2)S, synthesized by N-alkyl-ation of cyclo-hexyl-amine benzene-sulfonamide with allyl iodide, is of inter-est as a precursor to biologically active sulfur-containing heterocyclic compounds. The cyclo-hexane ring is in a chair form and its mean plane makes a dihedral angle of 53.84 (12)° with the phenyl ring.
Described herein is a Pd-catalyzed haloallylation of aromatic ynol ethers and allyl chlorides, allowing facile access to (1E)-α-chloroenol ethers in a highly regio- and stereoselective manner. The synthetic utility of this method is demonstrated well by the synthesis of the stereodefined multisubstituted enol ethers and α-allylated carbonyl compounds.
