A pleomorphic, extremely halophilic archaeon (strain M6(T)) was isolated from a sulfide- and sulfur-rich spring in south-western Oklahoma (USA). It formed small (0.8-1.0 mm), salmon pink, elevated colonies on agar medium. The strain grew in a wide range of NaCl concentrations (6 % to saturation) and required at least 1 mM Mg(2+) for growth. Strain M6(T) was able to reduce sulfur to sulfide anae...

These are written up notes of the talk I gave at Simons Workshop 2004, based on preprints hep-th/0402153,0403002,0403038 co-authored by J. Gauntlett, J. Sparks, and D. Waldram. I review the construction of some supersymmetric solutions of 11d supergravity of the type AdS5×M6 where M6 are complex P bundles over Kähler four-manifolds, closely resembling twistor spaces. Then I discuss the dualizat...

We analyse the most general supersymmetric solutions of D = 11 supergravity consisting of a warped product of five-dimensional anti-de-Sitter space with a six-dimensional Riemannian space M6, with four-form flux on M6. We show that M6 is partly specified by a one-parameter family of four-dimensional Kähler metrics. We find a large family of new explicit regular solutions where M6 is a compact, ...

The c-src gene encodes a membrane-associated protein-tyrosine kinase, pp60c-src, whose substrates and regulators have not been identified. In an effort to obtain mutants that might assist the search for proteins that interact with pp60c-src, we have generated by site-directed mutagenesis two alleles of chicken c-src that are host dependent for transformation and inhibit transformation of mouse ...

Recurrent connections are thought to be a common feature of the neural circuits that encode memories, but how memories are laid down in such circuits is not fully understood. Here we present evidence that courtship memory in Drosophila relies on the recurrent circuit between mushroom body gamma (MBγ), M6 output, and aSP13 dopaminergic neurons. We demonstrate persistent neuronal activity of aSP1...

Two members of the src proto-oncogene family of intracellular tyrosine kinases, c-fgr and hck, are selectively expressed in differentiated myeloid cells. To study the expression of these genes in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and to determine the specific myeloid lineages and stages of myeloid differentiation at which the expression of these genes is acquired, we used a series of 79 cases of de ...

Pseudomonas syringae pv. maculicola strain M6 (Psm M6) carries the avrRpm1 gene, encoding a type III effector, on a 40 kb plasmid, pFKN. We hypothesized that this plasmid might carry additional genes required for pathogenesis on plants. We report the sequence and features of pFKN. In addition to avrRpm1, pFKN carries an allele of another type III effector, termed avrPphE, and a gene of unknown ...

acute myeloid leukemia (aml) is a type of poor prognosis hematological malignancies characterized by heterogeneous clonal expansion of myeloid progenitors. leukemic stem cells are thought to form the majority of a cell population in minimal residual diseases (mrds) which are resistant to current chemotherapeutic regimens and mediate disease relapse. current therapeutic vaccine strategies have d...

A degradative bacterium, M6, was isolated and presumptively identified as Plesiomonas sp. strain M6 was able to hydrolyze methyl parathion to p-nitrophenol. A novel organophosphate hydrolase gene designated mpd was selected from its genomic library prepared by shotgun cloning. The nucleotide sequence of the mpd gene was determined. The gene could be effectively expressed in Escherichia coli.

One of 19 mAbs against the native group A streptococcal M6 protein proved opsonic for type 6 organisms in a bactericidal assay. The opsonic and three nonopsonic antibodies were selected for isotype and complement fixation studies based on previous knowledge of their epitope site on the M6 molecule. While mAb 3B8 (IgG3), whose epitope is in the NH2-terminal hypervariable region of the molecule (...
