In recent years the popularity of hybrid filter bank technologies for analog-to-digital conversion (HFB ADC) has increased and they have found their way from the academic world to industrial applications. Hybrid filter bank designs are based on an established mathematical framework for optimized converter designs. TimeInterleaved ADC (TIADC) technologies have a much longer history; nevertheless...
AbstractIn Time Interleaved Analog to Digital (TIADC) conversion process, multi-mismatches can be occurred these mismatches highly degrade the system performance. Different mismatches can be frequency mismatches, offset mismatches, timing mismatches and gain mismatches. Due to different Hardware delays and it happens because TIADC ICs are not identical and goes worse when multiple chips are use...
This paper presents the design and implementation of a 2.5V 12-hit high performance and low cost pipeline Analog-to-Digital converter (ADC) architecture using CMOS technology. A modified flash ADC was employed instead of the traditional flash ADC to implement the sub-ADC in the designed pipeline ADC scheme to reduce the device complexity and attain lower system power consumption. The designed p...
Two 8 bit successive approximation analog-to-digital converter (ADC) designs and a 12 bit current mode incremental sigma delta (Z-L) ADC have been designed, fabricated, and tested. The successive approximation test chip designs are compatible with active pixel sensor (APS) column parallel architectures with a 20.4 j.tm pitch in a 1.2 m n-well CMOS process and a 40 tm pitch in a 2 j.tm n-well CM...
The use of Sigma-Delta (Σ∆) modulation for analog-to-digital conversion (ADC) in the communication frequency range is evaluated. Two high-order multi-bit architectures are proposed to achieve +12-bit dynamic range at 4Msample/s Nyquist rate using very low oversampling ratio. They show very low sensitivity to the internal D-to-A conversion (DAC) error with no calibration required. Simulations sh...
An Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) is a mixed-signal electronic circuit that converts an electrical signal from the analog domain to the digital domain, typically providing N binary bits at the sampling frequency f s. The higher speed of superconducting circuits comparable to conventional circuits provided an initial interest in superconductor technology for ADC applications. One can find tec...
We present a broadband coherent orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) transceiver based on sampling and low bandwidth electronic analog signal processing. Wideband superchannels, without any guardband are aggregated from OFDM channels in the time domain by Nyquist sinc-pulse sequences with rectangular bandwidth. Therefore, method is called OFDM-Nyquist-time division (TDM). Simulatio...
A flash analog-to-digital (FADC) based data acquisition system has been designed for the HiRes Fly's Eye detector. A prototype system has been constructed and installed on a single mirror at Dugway, Utah. The trigger sensitivity of the system has been measured using laser shots fired from up to 20 km away. We present the preliminary results of this measurement.
A 6-bit, 7 mW, 700 MS/s subranging ADC using Capacitive DAC (CDAC) and gate-weighted interpolation fabricated in 90 nm CMOS technology is demonstrated. CDACs are used as a reference selection circuit instead of resistive DACs (RDAC) for reducing settling time and power dissipation. A gate-weighted interpolation scheme is also incorporated to the comparators, to reduce the circuit components, po...
ADC-based CDRs take digital samples of the received signal to recover the clock and data. Digital representation of the signal allows for extensive channel equalization in the digital domain. Recently-reported ADC-based CDRs sample the signal at 1× or 2× the baud rate. The 1× CDR aligns the sampling clock with the signal using a phase-tracking feedback loop [1-2], which requires a voltage-contr...
