the development of a conceptual model that best accounts for the different parameters influencing lnapl fate and transport in groundwater is ultimate the key to a successful simulation of lnapl concentration in groundwater. characterization of hydrocarbon sources and identification of areas with heavy lnapl loadings from point and non-point sources is important for land use planners and environ...

let $g$ be a molecular graph with vertex set $v(g)$, $d_g(u, v)$ the topological distance between vertices $u$ and $v$ in $g$. the hosoya polynomial $h(g, x)$ of $g$ is a polynomial $sumlimits_{{u, v}subseteq v(g)}x^{d_g(u, v)}$ in variable $x$. in this paper, we obtain an explicit analytical expression for the expected value of the hosoya polynomial of a random benzenoid chain with $n$ hexagon...

In this paper we suggest a hybrid method for finding toots of error locator polynomials. We first review a fast version of the Chien search algorithm based on the decomposition of the error locator polynomial into a sum of multiples of affine polynomials. We then propose to combine it with modified analytical methods for solution of polynomials of small degree in radicals. We suggest, in partic...

In this paper, the spectral volume (SV) method is extended to solve the Navier-Stokes equations by treating the viscous terms with a mixed formulation named local Discontinuous Galerkin approach. The SV method combines two key ideas, which are the basis of the finite volume and the finite element methods, i.e., the physics of wave propagation accounted for by the use of a Riemann solver and hig...

In this paper we introduce a new algebraic method in tilings. Combining this method with Hilbert’s Nullstellensatz we obtain a necessary condition for tiling n-space by translates of a cluster of cubes. Further, the polynomial method will enable us to show that if there exists a tiling of n-space by translates of a cluster V of prime size then there is a lattice tiling by V as well. Finally, we...

BACKGROUND There has been limited decline in undernutrition rates in South Asia compared with the rest of Asia and one reason for this may be low levels of household food security. However, the evidence base on the determinants of household food security is limited. To develop policies intended to improve household food security, improved knowledge of the determinants of household food security...

Laser-induced damage has always been and remains as vexing as it is expensive. Despite a quarter century of work, the problem has not been eliminated or even fully defined-only the technical limits have been increased. Although dielectric thin films have improved over the last 25 years, they remain especially difficult subjects to deal with owing to the multiparameter nature of the nonequilibri...

To improve the effectiveness of a previous regression-based approach for the assessment of the agreement between different analytical methods, two modifications/integrations to the original scheme by means of log10 transformation of data and implementation of inherent combined imprecision are presented in this study.

The application of statistical machine learning techniques to neuroimaging data has allowed researchers to decode the cognitive and disease states of participants. The majority of studies using these techniques have focused on pattern classification to decode the type of object a participant is viewing, the type of cognitive task a participant is completing, or the disease state of a participan...

We introduce a novel mechanism for itinerant ferromagnetism, which is based on a simple two-band model, and, by using numerical and analytical methods, we show that the periodic Anderson model contains this mechanism. We propose that the mechanism, which does not assume an intra-atomic Hund's coupling, is present in both the iron group and some f electron compounds.
