We introduce weakenings of two of the more prominent open problems in the classification of C∗-algebras, namely the quasidiagonality problem and the UCT problem. We show that the a positive solution of the conjunction of the two weaker problems implies a positive solution of the original quasidiagonality problem as well as allows us to give a local, finitary criteria for the MF problem, which a...

the robustness property can be added to dsc system at the expense of reducing performance, i.e., increasing the sum-rate. the aim of designing robust dsc schemes is to trade off between system robustness and compression efficiency. in this paper, after deriving an inner bound on the rate–distortion region for the quadratic gaussian mdc based rdsc system with two encoders, the structure of the r...

In this paper, we analyze the complexity of a zero test for expressions built from formal power series solutions of first order differential equations with non degenerate initial conditions. We will prove a doubly exponential complexity bound. This bound establishes a power series analogue for “witness conjectures”.

We propose a novel approach to compute bounds on the objective function value of a wide class of resource-constrained project scheduling problems. The basis is a polynomial-time algorithm to solve the following scheduling problem: Given a set of activities with start-time dependent costs and temporal constraints in the form of time windows, find a feasible schedule of minimum total cost. Motiva...

In this study, the causality links between electricity consumption and economic growth are investigated for Turkey, the United Kingdom, Spain, Belgium and United States covering the period from 1964 to 2014. The results of autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) approach, bounds testing and error correction model show that there is a positive one-way and statistically significant causality moving...

are known as Lieb-Thirring bounds and hold true with finite constants Lγ,d if and only if γ ≥ 1/2 for d = 1, γ > 0 for d = 2 and γ ≥ 0 for d ≥ 3. Here and in the following, A± = (|A| ± A)/2 denote the positive and negative parts of a self-adjoint operator A. The case γ > (1 − d/2)+ was shown by Lieb and Thirring in [21]. The critical case γ = 0, d ≥ 3 is known as the Cwikel-Lieb-Rozenblum inequ...

Consider the Schrödinger operators H± = −d/dx ± V (x). We present a method for estimating the potential in terms of the negative eigenvalues of these operators. Among the applications are inverse Lieb-Thirring inequalities and several sharp results concerning the spectral properties of H±.
