سرطان معده به عنوان سومین سرطان کشنده در جهان می باشد، جزیره ی بیماری زای cag هلیکوباکترپیلوری دارای چندین ژن می باشد که در بیماری های گوارشی می توانند شرکت کنند. هدف ما بررسی ارتباط ژن هایcagh، cagl، cagg و orf17 جزیره ی بیماری زای cag با بیماری های گوارشی در ایران می باشد. 242 سویه ی هلیکوباکترپیلوری برای تعیین ژنوتیپ های مورد نظر استفاده شدند. بررسی های پاتولوژیکی نیز انجام شده بودند.
