Analogous to multiwalled carbon nanotubes, nitrogen-doped carbon nanotube cups (NCNCs) have been synthesized with defined volumetric parameters (diameter and segment lengths) by controlling the catalyst particle size and the concentration of nitrogen precursor utilized in the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) reaction, allowing for tailored interior cavity space of cross-linked NCNCs, i.e. nanoca...

A highly dispersed Ru/OCNT catalyst synthesized through a facile ethylene glycol reduction approach shows more uniform particle size distribution with ∼1.0 nm compared with that prepared through a conventional impregnation method. Moreover, it also has good thermal stability evidenced by an in situ TEM study.

Controlling the structure of single-wall carbon nanotubes during their synthesis by chemical vapor deposition remains a challenging issue. Here, using a specific synthesis protocol and ex situ transmission electron microscopy, we perform a statistical analysis of the structure of the tubes and of the catalyst particles from which they grow. We discriminate two nucleation modes, corresponding to...

This study was conducted to investigate the use of cubic LaMnO3 nano-perovskite as a green catalyst for the degradation of an aqueous solution of methyl orange under different conditions. Nanoscale cubic lanthanum manganite with the particle size of ~20 nm was successfully synthesized via citrate sol-gel method. The sample was characterized using the FT-IR and UV-Vis spectroscopy, XRD, SEM, and...

This paper remarks the general correlations of the shape and crystallinity of titanium dioxide (TiO₂) support on gold deposition and carbon monoxide (CO) oxidation. It was found that due to the larger rutile TiO₂ particles and thus the pore volume, the deposited gold particles tended to agglomerate, resulting in smaller catalyst surface area and limited gold loading, whilst anatase TiO₂ enabled...

Abstract : In this study, we prepared a LaNi0.3Al0.7O3 perovskite catalyst using a sol-gel related method (with prop ionic acid as a solvent) for use in the methane dry reforming reaction to produce synthesis gas. We defined the catalyst structure on the basis of X-ray diffraction analysis and measurements of the specific surface area and particle size distribution. The mixed oxide structure ...

The long-term efficiency of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC) is largely restricted by the instability of catalyst nanoparticles during fuel cell operation. Due to their large surface area-tovolume ratio, Pt and Pt-alloy nanoparticles have a strong tendency to grow in size over short time scales, which lead to a reduction in their electrochemically-active surface area, and consequentl...
