Congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) has an incidence of approximately 1:4000 live births. Most frequently the diaphragmatic defect is a left and posterolateral (Bochdalek) one. Prenatal diagnosis is made at ultrasonography; the relevant sonographic features will be described in the paper. Cystic adenomatoid malformation of the lung (CAML), pulmonary sequestration, bronchogenic cysts, pulmonar...

BACKGROUND Cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) is an extracellular hemoflavoenzyme produced by lignocellulose-degrading fungi including Pycnoporus cinnabarinus. We investigated the cellulolytic system of P. cinnabarinus, focusing on the involvement of CDH in the deconstruction of lignocellulosic biomass. RESULTS First, P. cinnabarinus growth conditions were optimized for CDH production. Following ...

Congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH), a life-threatening anomaly, is a major cause of pediatric mortality. Although the disease was described >350 years ago, the etiology of CDH is poorly understood. Here, we show that tissue-specific null mutants of COUP-TFII exhibit Bochdalek-type CDH, the most common form of CDH. COUP-TFII, a member of orphan nuclear receptors, is expressed in regions criti...

This study aimed to demonstrate that congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) results in vascular abnormalities that are directly associated with the severity of pulmonary hypoplasia and hypertension. These events increase right ventricle (RV) afterload and may adversely affect disease management and patient survival. Our objective was to investigate cardiac function, specifically right ventricula...

OBJECTIVE To identify the frequency of signs and symptoms of temporomandibular disorder (TMD) and its severity in individuals with headache. STUDY DESIGN 60 adults divided into three groups of 20 individuals: chronic daily headache (CDH), episodic headache (EH) and a control group without headache (WH). Headache diagnosis was performed according to the criteria of International Headache Socie...

Many infants with CDH can be managed with conventional mechanical ventilation and pharmacotherapy. However, some infants will require levels of ventilator support that are not compatible with survival. In these circumstances, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) has been used with varying results. The indication, type, and timing of ECMO in relation to surgery continue to evolve in an att...

Congenital diaphragmatic hernia / hiatal (Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia CDH) alters normal cardiopulmonary physiology in neonates or pediatric patients due to pressure from the abdomen into thoracic cavity. The open surgical and laparoscopic approaches pose challenges for anesthesiologist team because of complications CDH surgery itself. We present a case successful anesthetic management 2-ye...

Bilateral congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) is a rare birth defect, with a poor prognosis. We describe a case of bilateral CDH discovered while repairing the right sided CDH. Diaphragmatic defect was repaired and a silo was applied on the abdominal wound to avoid abdominal compartment syndrome. The patient however died postoperatively due to severe pulmonary hypertension.

Recent demands for the production of lignocellulose biofuels boosted research on cellulase. Hydrolysis efficiency and production cost of cellulase are two bottlenecks in "biomass to biofuels" process. The Trichoderma cellulase mixture is one of the most commonly used enzymes for cellulosic hydrolysis. During hydrolytic process cellobiose accumulation causes feedback inhibition against most cell...
