In this study we explore two different perspectives of one ICT project. The “mainstream” believed that an educational ICT project for Taiwanese aboriginals was successful, while the local aboriginals and local teachers did not. Using ethnographic research, we investigated the possible reasons for the disparity between the views of the mainstream and the locals. Our findings indicate that the pa...
Monitoring approaches to consciousness claim that a mental state is conscious when it is suitably monitored. Higher-order monitoring theory makes the monitoring state and the monitored state logically independent. Same-order monitoring theory claims a constitutive, non-contingent connection between the monitoring state and the monitored state. In this paper, I articulate different versions of t...

Analyzing pseudo-telepathy graph games, we propose a way to build contextuality scenarios exhibiting the quantum supremacy using graph states. We consider the combinatorial structures generating equivalent scenarios. We investigate which scenarios are more multipartite and show that there exist graphs generating scenarios with a linear multipartiteness width.
Europe has become a vivid example of intergroup dynamics with all the risks and chances it holds for peaceful and respectful co-existence. While Europe as a superordinate social category has the capability of solidarity between its subcategories (i.e., nations), negative emotions and behaviors among the countries’ citizens have become more prevalent throughout the emerging crisis. These two characters have only become more popular wit...
A story-based video game contains many characters. The majority are virtual characters controlled by artificial intelligence. In recent years, virtual character artificial intelligence has developed slower than other aspects of video games, such as graphics, mainly due to the cost of scripting complex and believable virtual characters. To tackle this bottleneck in content creation, this researc...
The characters of a finite abelian group G are the homomorphisms from G to the unit circle S1 = {z ∈ C : |z| = 1}. Two characters can be multiplied pointwise to define a new character, and under this operation the set of characters of G forms an abelian group, with identity element the trivial character, which sends each g ∈ G to 1. Characters of finite abelian groups are important, for example...
Existing text based CAPTCHAs can only transcribe words in an image that contains ASCII characters. In this paper, we are describing a system called UCAPTCHA, which is intended to transcribe words in an image that contains Unicode characters to text. Such a system will be useful in transcribing scanned documents from many European languages like Spanish, German, French etc.
A number of recent, highly successful games have shown that there is a demand for the personalities, moods, and relationships of Non Player Characters' (NPCs) to be made the focus of game-play. In order for this shift of focus to take place, agent architectures used to create NPCs must be augmented with models of these aspects of characters’ personae. These models must then be used to drive cha...
