one of the most important hydrological time series task is to determine if there is any trend in the data and how to achieve stationarity when there is nonstationarity behavior in data. detecting trend and stationarity in hydrological time series may help us to understand the possible links between hydrological processes and global climate changes. in this study yearly, monthly and daily stream...

In this correspondence, we point out two typographical errors in Chai and Tjhung’s paper and we offer the correct formula of the unified Laguerre polynomial-seriesbased cumulative distribution function (cdf) for small-scale fading distributions. A Laguerre polynomial-series-based cdf formula for non-central chi-square distribution is also provided as a special case of our unified cdf result.

Early infantile epileptic encephalopathy (EIEE)-associated mutations in MUNC18-1 cause Munc18-1 misfolding and cellular aggregation. In this issue, Chai et al. (2016. J. Cell Biol http://dx.doi.org/10.1083/jcb.201512016) find that Munc18-1 is a molecular chaperone for α-synuclein and that aggregated Munc18-1 EIEE-causing mutants promote α-synuclein aggregation.

Uncovering hidden determinants of health Jeanne Chai et al. (331–339) study the association between child growth and violence in the home. Transforming society for better health outcomes Cicely Marston et al. (376–382) explain why community participation is crucial. Towards fair assessments Laura Frost et al. (393–395) explain why many voices are needed to understand health and development issues.

Objective: To investigate the characteristics of vascular lesions in patients with a cerebellar watershed infarction. Methods: Clinical data from 178 cases of cerebellar infarction were collected with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan results, including diffusion weighted imaging (DWI), a magnetic resonance angiography (MRA), and computed tomography angiography (CTA). The cases were divided...

This paper discusses the inverse problem of the watershed. From a partition obtained by the watershed from markers, find the minimal set of markers that reproduces the same watershed partition. We present a solution based on the minimum spanning tree and introduce the concept of marker receptive region. We also review the watershed transform based on the minimum spanning forest problem. Two app...

This paper is devoted to the study of watershed algorithms behavior. Through the introduction of a concept of pass value, we show that most classical watershed algorithms do not allow the retrieval of some important topological features of the image (in particular, saddle points are not correctly computed). An important consequence of this result is that it is not possible to compute sound meas...
