The unicuspid aortic valve is an extremely rare congenital anomaly. It usually presents with aortic stenosis and/or aortic regurgitation. Other cardiovascular complications, such as aortic dilatation and left ventricular hypertrophy can accompany it. Herein, we present a case report of a 50-year-old asymptomatic male patient with unicuspid aortic valve, complicated by ascending aortic aneurysm.
CHEST, VOL. 60, NO. 2, AUGUST 1971 noma. Stackhouse7 and associates, reviewing eight cases of pulmonary blastoma, stated that these cases should be considered as a distinctive group or subclassification of carcinosarcoma which simulates immature or developing lung blastema. Although more detail of differences in histogenesis of these two varieties of rare pulmonary tumors are given by others,7 ...
Congenital cutaneous hemangioma associated with congenital heart disease is extremely rare. We report four infants with congenital cavernous hemangioma of the face and neck and coarctation of the aorta. Three also had congenital aneurysm of a subclavian or innominate artery. One patient also had mild congenital valvular aortic stenosis. The unusual combination of lesions may represent a new syn...
Case 1. J.S. (HLH Niumber A-96356), a white girl, was observed in the Cardiac Clinic of the Harriet Lane Home from the age of 13 months until her death at the age of 51/2 years. The family history was not pertinent. There were no siblings. The patient was born at full term; birth weight was 6 pounds, 14 ounces. A heart murmur as well as unusual facies and webbed neck were noted at birth. Her ps...
years were under supervision for periods ranging from several months to more than 9 years. The obstruction was subvalvar in 3. Additional malformations were aortic regurgitation, persistent ductus arteriosus, coarctation of the aorta, ventricular septal defect, partial anomalous pulmonary venous drainage, and mitral stenosis. Bacterial endocarditis complicated 3. Of 5 deaths unrelated to operat...
Abdominal aortic coarctation is an extremely rare vascular pathology. Its etiology can be congenital or acquired. Here we present a case of acquired infrarenal abdominal coarctation in a 66-year-old woman who complained of low back and legs pain. She had no signs of resting lower limb ischemia, with diminished distal pulses and normal blood pressure in upper and lower extremities. Magnetic reso...
Heart disease complicates about 1-4% of all pregnancies which valvular heart is the commonest cause. In developing countries, congenital diseases are commonly first detected during pregnancy. Most women do well pregnancy but severe mitral stenosis or aortic high-risk conditions that can cause significant morbidity and mortality. Unlike asymptomatic stenosis, mWHO category 3. There no consensus ...
Patients with congenital supravalvular aortic stenosis and associated peripheral pulmonary artery stenoses, the majority of whom have Williams-Beuren syndrome, are inherently at risk for development of myocardial ischemia. This is particularly true in the setting of procedural sedation and anesthesia. The biventricular hypertrophy that accompanies these lesions increases myocardial oxygen consu...
