Where N is a nite set of the cardinality n and P the family of all its subsets, we study real functions on P having nonnegative diierences of orders n?2, n?1 and n. Nonnegative diierences of zeroth order, rst order, and second order may be interpreted as nonnegativity, nonincreasingness and convexity, respectively. If all diierences up to order n of a function are nonnegative, the set function ...

In this paper, we introduce general classes of generalized monotonicity and generalized convexity. For each type of (relatively) generalized monotone map, we establish a relationship to (relatively) generalized convex function. In this way, we obtain first-order characterizations for various (relatively) generalized convex functions. Our results extend/generalize similar result obtained in [3].

A point in the plane is called a guard for the convex set C if it lies in the interior of C. Let P be a planar point-set. A set S of points is a k-convex guard set for P if every convex k-gon formed from points of P contains a guard from S. We study, for any integer k 3, the minimum size of a k-convex guard set of a given planar point-set of size n. We give the tight bounds for the case k = 3, ...

Throughout this paper, let Z, E, and F be topological vector spaces, let X ⊆ E and Y ⊆ F be nonempty, closed, and convex subsets. Let D : X → 2X , T : X → 2Y and Ψ : X ×Y × X → 2Z be set-valued mappings, and let C : X → 2Z be a set-valued mapping such that C(x) is a closed pointed and convex cone with intC(x) = ∅ for each x ∈ X , where intC(x) denotes the interior of the set C(x). Then the gene...

The aim of this paper is to show that under a mild semicontinuity assumption (the so-called segmentary epi-closedness), the cone-convex (resp. cone-quasiconvex) set-valued maps can be characterized in terms of weak cone-convexity (resp. weak cone-quasiconvexity), i.e. the notions obtained by replacing in the classical definitions the conditions of type ”for all x, y in the domain and for all t ...

Prototype-based methods are commonly used in cluster analysis and the results may be highly dependent on the prototype used. In this paper, we propose a two-level fuzzy clustering method that involves adaptively expanding and merging convex polytopes, where the convex polytopes are considered as a “flexible” prototype. Therefore, the dependency on the use of a specified prototype can be elimina...

We introduce the notion of strongly t-convex set-valued maps and present some properties of it. In particular, a Bernstein–Doetsch and Sierpiński-type theorems for strongly midconvex set-valued maps, as well as a Kuhn-type result are obtained. A representation of strongly t-convex set-valued maps in inner product spaces and a characterization of inner product spaces involving this representatio...

let $c_0(alpha)$ denote the class of concave univalent functions defined in the open unit disk $mathbb{d}$. each function $f in c_{0}(alpha)$ maps the unit disk $mathbb{d}$ onto the complement of an unbounded convex set. in this paper, we study the mapping properties of this class under integral operators.
