A case of sarcoidosis of the paranasal sinuses is reported. Biopsies of the sinus mucosa showed typical noncaseating granulomas. Hydroxychloroquine, which is known to be active on the cutaneous form of sarcoidosis, was used here with success and is proposed as an effective alternative to high-dose systemic steroids.

Sarcoidosis is occasionally accompanied by hematologic malignancies, including cutaneous T-cell lymphoma, called sarcoidosis-lymphoma syndrome. Although the mechanism underlying the induction of lymphomas is still unknown, understanding the immunological background of sarcoidosis could help explain the possible mechanisms of the induction of lymphomas. In this report, we describe a case of sarc...

Recognition of Skin Lesions Recognition of cutaneous lesions is important because they provide a visible clue to the diagnosis and are an easily accessible source of tissue for histologic examination. Punch or incisional wedge biopsy is typically used to obtain a sample of skin that includes the dermis. If noncaseating granulomas are found (Figure 1), tissue culture may be necessary to exclude ...

A well described case in the Christmas tradition is that of Patient R, reported to have been afflicted with a very shiny nose. The lesion was described as having a lustrous, glowing appearance and initially exerting a significant burden on quality of life — the patient’s peers engaged in name-calling and excluded him from social games. It would seem that the case proved a challenge diagnostical...

The clinical features of cutaneous sarcoidosis and leprosy are some times difficult to differentiate and there have been many reports where pulmonary sarcoidosis was treated as pulmonary tuberculosis or a case of sarcoidosis was treated with anti-leprosy multidrug therapy, before a correct diagnosis was made. So far there has been only one published case report of leprosy and sarcoidosis co-inf...
