It has long been known that Newtonian dynamics applied to the visible matter in galaxies and clusters does not correctly describe the dynamics of those systems. While this is generally taken as evidence for dark matter it is in principle possible that instead Newtonian dynamics (and with it General Relativity) breaks down in these systems. Indeed there have been a number of proposals as to how ...
We consider supersymmetric models with right-handed neutrinos where neutrino masses are purely Dirac-type. In this model, right-handed sneutrino can be the lightest supersymmetric particle and can be a viable candidate of cold dark matter of the universe. Right-handed sneutrinos are never thermalized in the early universe because of weakness of Yukawa interaction, but are effectively produced b...
Although current methods exist to predict the location of these centers given comprehensive amounts of data such as three-dimensional position, mass, etc., there are not many approaches to finding the centers given two-dimensional images of a sky. However, for many regions of space, the only data collected are two-dimensional images, and thus the dark matter structures in those regions of space...
It is pointed out that in the warped string compactification, motion of D̄-branes near the bottom of a throat behaves like dark matter. Several scenarios for production of the dark matter are suggested, including one based on the D/D̄ interaction at the late stage of D/D̄ inflation. UTAP-525, RESCEU-8/05
We examine the possibility of rolling tachyon to play the dual roll of inflaton at early epochs and dark matter at late times. We argue that enough inflation can be generated with the rolling tachyon either by invoking the large number of branes or brane world assisted inflation. However, reheating is problematic in this model.
In this review I will describe progress that has been made in determining masses of galaxy clusters using ‘weak lensing’ and how this technique my be applied in the future to determine the dark matter distribution both on supercluster scales and on the scale of galaxy haloes.
Motivated in part by string theory, we consider a modification of the ΛCDM cosmological model in which the dark matter has a long-range scalar force screened by light particles. Scalar forces can have interesting effects on structure formation: the main example presented here is the expulsion of dark matter halos from low density regions, or voids, in the galaxy distribution.
We calculate the antideuteron flux expected from dark matter annihilation in the galactic halo. The propagation is treated in a full 2-D propagation model consistent with the results obtained from the propagation of B/C and other galactic species. We discuss the potentials of this indirect dark matter detection means, with special emphasis on the possible sources of uncertainties affecting futu...
Supersymmetric models predict a natural dark-matter candidate , stable baryonic Q-balls. They could be copiously produced in the early Universe as a by-product of the Affleck-Dine baryogenesis. I review the cosmological and astrophysical implications , methods of detection, and the present limits on this form of dark matter.
