Calculations of the number of curves on a Calabi-Yau manifold via an instanton expansion do not always agree with what one would expect naively. It is explained how to account for continuous families of instantons via deformation theory and excess intersection theory. The essential role played by degenerate instantons is also explained.

The shortest helices (three-length 3(10) and four-length alpha), most abundant among helices of different lengths, have been analyzed from a database of protein structures. A characteristic feature of three-length 3(10)-helices is the shifted backbone conformation for the C-terminal residue (phi, psi angles: -95 degrees,0 degrees ), compared to the rest of the helix (-62 degrees,-24 degrees ). T...

The body of work on multi-body factorization separates between objects whose motions are independent. In this work we show that in many cases objects moving with different 3D motions will be captured as a single object using these approaches. We analyze what causes these degeneracies between objects and suggest an approach for overcoming some of them. We further show that in the case of multipl...

The presence of degeneracies can considerably worsen the measure of the neutrino oscillation parameters θ13 and δ. We study the physics reach of a specific “CERN” setup, using a standard β-Beam and Super-Beam facility. These facilities have a similar sensitivity in both parameters. Their combination does not provide any dramatic improvement as expected due to their almost identical L/E ratio. W...

Based on fluorescence microscopy, the actin homolog MreB has been thought to form extended helices surrounding the cytoplasm of rod-shaped bacterial cells. The presence of these and other putative helices has come to dominate models of bacterial cell shape regulation, chromosome segregation, polarity, and motility. Here we use electron cryotomography to show that MreB does in fact form extended...

we will present a detailed investigation of intersubband transitions process in core-multi shells quantum dots. the confined wave functions and eigenenergies of electrons in quantum dots have been calculated under the effective-mass approximation by solving a three-dimensional schrodinger equation. excellent dependence is found between size effects, time relaxation and degenerate four wave mixi...

Graphene is determined by a wonderful carrier transport property and high sensitivityat the surface of a single molecule, making them great as resources used in Nano electronic use.TGN is modeled in form of three honeycomb lattices with pairs of in-equivalent sites as {A1, B1},{A2, B2}, and {A3, B3} which are located in the top, center and bottom layers, respectively. Trilayer...

The practical applications of chiral discrimination are usually limited by the weak response enantiomers and high complexity detection methods. Here, we propose to use C lines (i.e., polarization singularities) emerged in light scattering a metal sphere detect small particles. Using full-wave numerical simulations analytical multipole expansions, determined absorption dissymmetry deep-subwavele...
