Thermal conductivity of two-dimensional (2D) materials is of interest for energy storage, nanoelectronics and optoelectronics. Here, we report that the thermal conductivity of molybdenum disulfide can be modified by electrochemical intercalation. We observe distinct behaviour for thin films with vertically aligned basal planes and natural bulk crystals with basal planes aligned parallel to the ...
Diffusion of electrons in a two-dimensional system with time-dependent random potentials is investigated numerically. In the absence of spin-orbit scattering, the conductivity shows universal weak localization correction. In the presence of it, however, the correction to the conductivity weakly depends on the strength of disorder, and becomes vanishingly small close to the metal-insulator trans...
We explain how to build invisible isotropic conductivity perturbations of the unit conductivity in the framework of the point electrode model for two-dimensional electrical impedance tomography. The theoretical approach, based on solving a fixed point problem, is constructive and allows the implementation of an algorithm for approximating the invisible perturbations. The functionality of the me...
The Shubnikov de Haas effect in quasi-two-dimensional compounds is studied. The conductivity is calculated from the Kubo formula. Two effects – the field-dependent phase shift of the beats and the slow oscillations of the conductivity are explained and calculated. The results are applicable to the strongly anisotropic organic metals and other layered compounds.
We study the linear response spin Hall conductivity of a two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) in the presence of the Rashba spin-orbit interaction in the diffusive transport regime. When defect scattering is modeled by isotropic short-range potential scatterers the spin Hall conductivity vanishes due to the vertex correction. A nonvanishing spin Hall effect may be recovered for dominantly forwar...
Time-lapse three-dimensional inversion of complex conductivity data using an active time constrained (ATC) approach" (2011).
In this study, a three-dimensional continuum percolation model was developed based on a Monte Carlo simulation approach to investigate the percolation behavior of an electrically insulating matrix reinforced with conductive nano-platelet fillers. The conductivity behavior of composites rendered conductive by randomly dispersed conductive platelets was modeled by developing a three-dimensional f...
